There seems to be so many different ways to spell this Cornish name.

Karenza
Carenza

Karensa
Carensa

Kerensa
Cerensa

Kerenza
Cerenza

What do you think of the name and how would you prefer to see it spelled?

I prefer Kerensa, that's the most common spelling I've seen although it's not a common name (the wrong side of the Tamar anyway!). Lovely though

llareggub · 25/06/2009 14:37

I've only met one Kerenza. She wasn't Cornish.

MrsKitty · 25/06/2009 14:39

Prefer it beginning with a "K", and like all "K" spellings apart from Karensa - Not sure why I don't like that option though!

Carenza, like the nice woman from Time Team. I always assumed it was italian, but having done a quick translate in google, see that it is in fact the italian word for shortage, or deficiency. so perhaps rule it out on that ground (you never know where she may end up living!)

I really like the Carenza spelling - it's related etymologically to the Welsh Carys/cariad, so the 'car' makes more sense to me. But the Italian 'deficiency' measning does put me off.

Ce will be pronounced serenza, starting with Karen sounds made up, Carensa or Kerensa imo

expatinscotland · 25/06/2009 22:30

How about Credenza, that's at least not completely made up?

LundyBancroftatemyhusband · 25/06/2009 22:31

I know a Kerensa who is a sweet and lovely woman.

LundyBancroftatemyhusband · 25/06/2009 22:32

'may I see your Credzials Madam'
