Please tell me what you think.
Is this a good name? I love it but I was upset (pregnancy homones)when somebody mentioned Thomas the Tank Engine
I don't want Clara on its own either.

Sorry, but I did think Thomas.
Well, I suppose, so long as she's not a twin and the other one is Annie......

Thunderduck · 20/06/2009 01:13

It makes me think of a cow.

Scorpette · 20/06/2009 01:14

It's a lovely name. Its abbreviations are good too - Clara, Clarry, Belle, Bella, etc. I like all those classy old names like Clarabel, Christabel, Corabel, etc.

I don't know anything about Thomas the Tank Engine, but there's some joke that could be made about just about every name, so I wouldn't worry about it.

DiamondHead · 20/06/2009 12:19

I love this name.

We have a book where Clarabella spends so long brushing her crocodile teeth, she misses out on playing. In the end her friends buy her a giant toothbrush,

TabithaTwitchet · 20/06/2009 12:22

I think it's a pretty name. It does make me think of Thomas the Tank engine, but that hardly stops people calling their child Thomas does it?

It's DD's middle name - and my MIL's actual name although she insits on being called Del

I think it is very pretty

SoupDragon · 20/06/2009 13:12

Moo!

Rindercella · 20/06/2009 13:16

Oi!! You calling my DD MIL a cow Soupy??

SoupDragon · 20/06/2009 13:17

Lots are, apparently...

I did have a snigger at the juxtaposition

TheMysticMasseuse · 20/06/2009 13:20

why not Clara? it's a beautiful name. you can think of a nice middle name to go with it...

JoPie · 20/06/2009 13:41

Christabel is far better. I have to agree Clarabel= Moo to me!

piscesmoon · 20/06/2009 13:48

I straight away thought 'Thomas the Tank engine.'

violethill · 20/06/2009 14:13

I prefer Christobel. Clarabel = trains or cow! Sorry!

MaggieBeau · 20/06/2009 18:15

God no, but either Annabel or Christabel would be very elegant.

Clara on its own is nice too though.

I like bel names, inc Mabel, but Clarabel doesn't work. It's a 'ringer'. Christabel and Annabel work though. Don't know why but you can't do Clarabel sorry.

janeite · 20/06/2009 18:17

I like it - don't get the Thomas thing.

I like Christabel better though.

MaggieBeau · 20/06/2009 18:18

What about Maribel? very pretty and unusual and that works a lot better, as in, not sounding like two names stuck together.

LaDiDaDi · 20/06/2009 22:00

I like Clara, not keen on Clarabel but I really dislike Christabel.

simplesusan · 20/06/2009 23:52

I love it!

Don't think it is too Thomas the Tank, after all there are hundreds of Thomas's where I live and I don't hear people saying to their parents "oooh after Thomas the tank?"

All the Thomas the Tank Engine names seemed so crusty when i was young. They sound like a nursery list now!

crokky · 21/06/2009 18:05

I like the name Clarabel, but I'm sorry to say my 1st thought was Thomas the Tank Engine. Then again, I am the mother of a 3yo boy!

MaggieBeau · 21/06/2009 18:08

I like Annie. Funny, I would have hated the name Annie when I was choosing my own kids' names. My taste has changed... Maybe due to overexposure to thomas the tank engine
