I heard this on a girl recently and I quite like it, what do you think of it for a girl?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
aGalChangedHerName · 06/06/2009 23:15

Don't like it at all.

stubbyfingers · 06/06/2009 23:16

not good. bad connotations. sorry.

littlelamb · 06/06/2009 23:16

Ferris Bueller

ScummyMummy · 06/06/2009 23:16

Really dreadful! It's a term of abuse, isn't it?

Clary · 06/06/2009 23:17

As in Ranger?

I think it's absolutely awful. Sorry.

yousaidit · 06/06/2009 23:33

it does make 'ranger' spring to mind.

hmmm, it does seem with its connotations that its more a slangy nick-name than a childrens name based on an area.

if you like using place names as baby names are there other names you could consider?

Paolosgirl · 06/06/2009 23:34

Oh good grief.

Tinker · 06/06/2009 23:36

Um, why?

RockinSockBunnies · 06/06/2009 23:46

Sloane Square?
Sloane Ranger?

No, sorry, don't like it at all.

Tommy · 06/06/2009 23:58

no

Pingpong · 07/06/2009 00:02

no

UniS · 07/06/2009 00:34

no.
Slone was the derogatory name given to lazy rich kids at university on daddy's money.

muggglewump · 07/06/2009 00:38

No.

LobstersLass · 07/06/2009 00:47

Terrible.

Unabel · 07/06/2009 01:03

There are no words quite fitting enough to describe my disgust for it. Sorry, it's awful. Sloane Rangers aside, it sounds like the name of some sort of slug/sloth hybrid.

Deemented · 07/06/2009 07:15

Methinks someone has been watching too much daytime TV... Diagnosis Murder, perchance?

Tambajam · 07/06/2009 07:59

Sloane is an insult. Are you aware of that and this is a joke? It's like calling someone 'snob' or 'idiot'. Not a great idea really.
If you like the sound why not make up your own version: gloane, foane...

Stannie · 07/06/2009 08:49

Oddly.. I like it.. but would also be put off by the associations made with it.. although the first Sloane I thought of was Ferris Bueller! (like littlelamb)

MrsMattie · 07/06/2009 13:13

Urgh! Hideous.

Bonneville · 07/06/2009 13:24

Another silly (non) 'name'.

frazzledgirl · 07/06/2009 13:26

Another one here who loathed all the baseball-capped braying Sloane twunts at university.

Don't do it!

poppysweetie · 07/06/2009 13:32

I am sorry I really dont like it, just makes me think of ladies driving to Sloane Square in 4 by 4s and checked shirts

SoupDragon · 07/06/2009 13:36

It is a dreary kind of name.
