Like it?

I know several Sians but it only struck me recently what a pretty name it is.

Am in a real 'names' mood tonight

No.

StealthPolarBear · 06/06/2009 22:07

love it - the only one I know has a circumflex on the a

Milliways · 06/06/2009 22:10

How would you pronounce it?

I know 3 different Sians!
1= Shaan
1= Siy-Ann
1= See-Arn

So now I am confused!

StealthPolarBear · 06/06/2009 22:12

really?! Have only ever known Shaans

Milliways · 06/06/2009 22:15

Yes! I only ever knew Shaans, but now have a See-arn neighbour and a Siy-Ann work colleague!!

Tis very odd, but I like Shaan.

Pingpong · 07/06/2009 00:20

there are lots in Wales!
I don't like it much. It's hard to pronounce if you don't know how to say it. Shaan is correct I believe.

differentID · 07/06/2009 00:23

It's the Welsh equivelant of Jane. Most of the Sians I know are around my age or older.

lowrib · 07/06/2009 00:49

I love Sian. You're right it's a very pretty name. Also it works for both girly-girls and tomboys, little girls and grown women.

This was my favourite girls name when I was pregnant. DS's name is actually very similar.

Being a Welsh name, the proper pronunciation is Shaan, as others have said. It's not hard to say but, if you tell people it is your name, they may argue about how to pronounce it

Not keen, it sounds a bit hard.
