Just heard a friend of friend has called her daughter this.

What do you think? My first thought was: Hadley Freeman, pointless fashion journo. Yeuch. Then I thought - actually, it's not awful. Although Had/Hadders is a dreadful nn.

For a boy or a girl? It's alright for a boy, but it's quite a masculine sound. It doesn't roll off the tongue.

MaggieBee · 06/06/2009 17:10

oh you said daughter. yikes.

jkklpu · 06/06/2009 17:12

awful for either sex, but esp a girl

muffle · 06/06/2009 17:13

I quite like it but I really wish Hadley Freeman was more of a go-getting ballbreaking type (which it would suit better) instead of yet another oh so winsome and arch guardian lifestyle columnist, yawn. I don't think I could use it. because it would remind me of her (I don't hate her but I wouldn't want my baby to remind me of the saturday guardian) but apart from that it's quite cool. You'd just have to hope she retires and fades from your mind.

oh no. One of those surname as a first name names.

Makes me think of Tony Hadley

MrsMattie · 06/06/2009 17:14

Makes me think of Bradley a bit too much.

And everything muffle said.

But still...I can imagine a fairly ballsy type of little girl suiting the name really well.

I quite like it for a boy mainly as it is the surname i was born with and is my gparents surname.

pointydog · 06/06/2009 17:33

tony hadley.

littlelamb · 06/06/2009 17:37

Yes indeed, Tony Hadley

SoupDragon · 06/06/2009 17:39

Dreadful for a girl.

noodletiff · 06/06/2009 17:40

It's also a district of Telford, so.....

LovelyTinOfSpam · 06/06/2009 17:45

It's where I live.

So not good IMO.

And I saw tony hadley in waitrose the other day!

{irrelevant but interesting }

littlelamb · 06/06/2009 17:47

Did you sneak up behind him, yell 'GOLD' then run off? {wink]

I was with my parents and said he was there.

My mum turned around and stared at him intently and my dad stood there bellowing "which one? how do you know it's him? you mean the one holding the milk?"

In real life he is very tall.

bluebump · 06/06/2009 18:44

It reminds me of Hadley Wood the place,

nooka · 06/06/2009 18:50

It's a place name/surname. Bit harsh for a girl I think, and no obviously nice nns.
