FIL insists on calling my (unborn) baby the name he wants...

Hmmm. Not sure there is really anything I can do about this.

Am 21 weeks pregnant - this will be FIL's first grandchild, so understandably he is excited. We don't know the sex, and we are keeping the possible names to ourselves.

But right from the start my FIL has referred to my baby as 'Olivia'. At first I laughed it off as he kept saying he has always wanted a granddaughter called Olivia.

But now every bit of news is greeted with 'and how is Olivia today?' or 'Was Olivia lively at the scan.'

It's starting to really get on my tits. I have said that Olivia is not on our list (it is the name of my nemesis) but that doesn't stop him.

Has anyone else had a relative who has insisted on using one name... and must I have a boy in order for this torture to stop????

Every time he mentions the name olivia, say something negative back..

FIL: Is Olivia kicking much?
YOU: Oh funny you mention that name again, I saw an old school mate on facebook this week called Olivia, she's still as horrible as she was back then - really put me off the name that did!

FIL: Was Olivia lively at the scan?
YOU: I think the sonographer might have been called Olivia actually! Really common name now I think...

OR
buy a hamster/goldfish/anything pet like and name it Olivia NOW!

I do know how annoying it is. My FIL insists on calling DS2 by a different nickname to us. Its not wildly different, but I think he feels our nickname is a bit 'wacky' (he's quite conservative!) and feels more comfortable with his nn.
I just always always say DS2's nn in every conversation with him.
Its taken about a year but he very very rarely does it any more!

My Fil insisted on calling my dd Jemima which was his mothers name. I really disliked the name as it reminded me of the rag doll on a childrens programme i watched as a child. It took him a full year to call her by her real name.
