Juno is lovely, really unusual without being wacky.

But Juniper reminds me of that bit in the 'Life of Brian' where the hermit comes rushing out screaming 'hands off my juniper bushes' - or something similar.

Sorry.

thell · 01/06/2009 23:51

Don't remember that bit LightShines, - that's given me a good reason to watch it again!

Tummy, I don't think people would get that film reference.
And I don't think Juno was big enough for people to think you named her after that character (it's not like using Uhura or something!)

I think you're on to a winner - those names go quite well together. If you've liked it for a while, I'd say it's probably the one you should go for.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 01/06/2009 23:57

I like it, and it goes well with Pearl.
i secretly like jupiter too but i'll get a well deserved flaming for that one.

mulranno · 02/06/2009 00:39

remember the song jennifer juniper??...love Juno...irish play Juno and the Paycock..is Juno short for Juno or is it a name in its own right

elle23 · 02/06/2009 08:42

Isn't Juniper a berry??

WinkyWinkola · 02/06/2009 08:49

Juniper is lovely. Really lovely and unusual.

Don't worry about what it reminds people of. When people meet your lo, they'll only associate Juniper with her.

It's lovely. And Juniper Pearl (another fave of mine) is a fab combo.

GooseyLoosey · 02/06/2009 08:54

Juno was the patron goddess of Rome and the wife of Jupiter (chief God of the Roman pantheon) so its deffinitely a name in its own right.

helpivegottogivebirth · 02/06/2009 09:09

absolutely LOVE it. Finally a pretty name on MN that hasn't been listed to death!

rubyslippers · 02/06/2009 09:11

i love it

may be a name which is twee on a grown up altho' Juno as a NN is good and strong

nigglewiggle · 02/06/2009 09:12

It does make me think of Gin, but that probably says more about me than the name .

LightShinesInTheDarkness · 02/06/2009 11:42

Here is the miracle of the Juniper Bushes Life of Brian

But you are absolutely right that no-one will remember it!

oysterpots · 02/06/2009 21:03

Whole blog dedicated to a little girl called Juniper. I like the name.

Thunderduck · 02/06/2009 21:05

Not a fan.

tummytickler · 02/06/2009 21:51

I think i am liking it more and more.
Pearl is my 4 year old dd btw, not the middle name!

Thinking i like

Juniper Jean
Juniper Anne
Juniper Bess
Juniper Bee (I know, I know)
Juniper . . . .

any other ideas?

Thanks for the opinions, looking forward to some more!

Think Juno is fab, not too keen on Juniper though

serin · 02/06/2009 23:00

I love it for a cat.

Sorry.

ninah · 02/06/2009 23:02

doesn't Juno-esque mean fat? or is that just Rubenesque?
I quite like Juno, even so

TsarChasm · 02/06/2009 23:03

Gin...(now that's a name I could come round to)

mulranno · 03/06/2009 19:32

Juniper Belle?

MadamAnt · 03/06/2009 19:35

Love Juniper! I also know a baby Juno, and think that's fab too (and I don't think it'll be the next "Amelie").

Juniper Jean is v good.

goomum · 03/06/2009 19:52

Juniper Jean gets my vote.

Juno or Junie for short.

slowreadingprogress · 03/06/2009 20:30

exactly what goomum said!

Juniper Jean is the coolest name i've heard in a long time

audley · 03/06/2009 22:22

Juniper Joy is my current dream name, no from DH though

Tidey · 03/06/2009 22:25

Juno is ace.

Juniper sounds and looks mean to me, like a sneaky name. Also looks like a cross between Junior and Nipper, both rather unattractive names for children. I have these weird immediate reactions to names though, I don't expect anyone will agree.

sajaruss · 30/07/2009 14:52

I named my daughter Juniper and have had loads of good reactions to the name. We wanted to give our child a natural name without sounding like complete hippies and think this struck a good balance (i hope!)
Besides that, I think it's a really pretty name, although of course I am completely biased in this opinion!!
We call her little berry girl and all sorts of other names.
And indeed, there is a gin connection....mother's ruin, don't they say?!
