i wanted it for dd1 but i had to settle for it as her middle name

Rindercella · 31/05/2009 17:00

My oh my...

Why oh why...

Actually, I really quite like it

cookielove · 31/05/2009 17:01

i think its very pretty and sounds quite delicate

slowreadingprogress · 31/05/2009 18:02

cookie that's funny as I find this quite a hard, ugly name - not at all pretty but I think a really stylish girl with a lot of chutzpah could carry it off ok. But it's not for me, obv!

gloomysue · 31/05/2009 18:26

I love it, also like Delia.

OracleInaCoracle · 31/05/2009 18:31

i love it. think its a truly beautiful name for a girl who's sassy and intelligent. dh hates it though.

DarrellRivers · 31/05/2009 18:31

Do you think where ever she went , people would sing to her though?
Quite cool in a way though

boodleboot · 31/05/2009 18:46

well when i suggested it to my ten year old daughter she started seeing the PLain White T's song Hey there Delilah not the Tom Jones song.....besides you'd only do it the once to her....otherwise you'd look like a total knobber if you continually sung a song of someones name to them wouldn't you?? once is funny and all that....

i just think it is pretty and a bit of a twist on the Lily's and the Lila's....

lol dd is lily delilah , neither names were really about much at the time, she is 17 now

boodleboot · 31/05/2009 19:05

i LOVE lily lou33 but there is just so many about now....my dd is Ellie and there was hardly any Ellies 10 yrs ago....annoying when things get really fashionable isn't it....ha.

we kind of wanted Lil to be in the name somewhere tho as deceased MIL was Lil [lillian]

What does your DD think of Delilah? did people sing it to her?

OP posts:
Thunderduck · 31/05/2009 19:08

I don't like it and it's almost inevitable that people would sing Tom Jone's Delilah to her, or Hey There Delilah.
And it isn't at all fun having people do that. It's incredibly irritating.

19fran76 · 31/05/2009 19:10

Delilah is a good choice of name . I think it's funky too.

jofeb04 · 31/05/2009 19:13

as long as your not Welsh your fine (imagine 70,000 welsh rugby fans singing it!)

lou33 · 31/05/2009 19:14

noone has ever sung it to her but myself, because i used to love the song when i ws a kid (and still do)

she quite likes both songs you mentioned though

Kaylo · 01/06/2009 09:59

I think it's a great choice of name, and I think the song references are cool too - it's pretty, sassy, funky. But definitely not hard or ugly, hard and ugly are names like Agnes, Enid, Margaret etc. IMO anyway

AuntyAnna · 01/06/2009 10:05

Think its sweet

peppapig3 · 01/06/2009 12:39

I like it a lot- pretty and unusual. I really like the song and I don't think that's a reason not to use it. I would be more worried about jokes about the Biblical Delilah.

boodleboot · 01/06/2009 14:56

What NN would this produce?

Deedee?

OP posts:
mrsruffallo · 01/06/2009 14:57

Why? Why ? Why?

Kaylo · 01/06/2009 15:42

boodleboot

NN could be Lila - also very pretty

Nancy66 · 01/06/2009 16:36

It's one of those names i probably wouldn't use but really like.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 01/06/2009 16:42
