Raphael or Benedict? Caspar or Jasper?

Am edging towards Raphael but interested to know which you all prefer and why.

Like Raphael and Caspar. Raphael I like more.

Benedict and Jasper I don't like mainly because of associations I have with them personally rather than what they sound like.

Prefer Benedict and Jasper.

Raphael is a teenage mutant ninja turtle and Caspar is a friendly ghost.

Benedict is the only one I like and I don't like it much.
Why? Jasper sounds like a dog's name to me. Caspar is a ghost. Raphael is an angel. Not particularly cogent reasons I know but that's baby names for you.

Raphael would be my first choice - classic, masculine sounding name which isn't too common. Great choice!

Jasper and Casper would be my next choices - lovely names too.

The problem with Benedict is that it so long as to be mostly shortened to Ben - and Ben I find dull/boring and way too common.

I love Raphael. Raph for short! Personally I like the obvious associations that go with it: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle (I'm a child of the 80s, me!), great artist, arch-angel...
I think its lovely.
To be honest I dont like any of the other choices, so Raphael would be a clear winner to me.

Benedict next, but not really Ben.

Not keen on Jasper or Caspar.

Benedict = gorgeous.

Raphael - mmm not sure about this and Raph is not good imho.

Caspar - don't like.

Jasper - indifferent to this.

Caspar - ok, but sounds a bit silly in German (Kasper = clown)

Caspar spelt with 2 'a's is actually one of the 3 wise men NOT the ghost who is CaspEr.
My DS2 (4) is Caspar and everyone always remarks what a wonderful and original name it is.
There are a lot of Jasper's out there at the moment!!

I once knew a very lovely Spanish Rafael who was Raffa for short. It gets my vote!

I love Raphael have a DS Casper (who is not ghost) myself so biased to that I LOVE IT!and the Caspar spelling is nice too x
