has ethan become too popular?

had ethan down as boys name of choice when preg with DC1 who turned out to be a girl. 2.5 years later we are expecting a boy and still like ethan but seem to be quite a few around. has it had a surge? is it becoming too popular? not aspiring to be unique or unusual but would rather not be 5 others in his class at school.

There's three Ethans in my DS class at nursery.

Theres only 2 at our school of 200. Not that common IMO.

Someone at toddler group has just used it. I am sure I told her that was what we were going for. Not someone I see outside of toddler group and wont be same school but does make me jittery. Am 39wks and DP is starting to panic that not completely fixed name.

my friend is calling hers Ethan if a boy, and I know one other who is 6 now.

I like Ethan. I think it's popularity is on the increase but not alarmingly so. I only sort of know one Ethan.

It's currently no 15 in the uk in 2007 see top 100 boys names i know 2 ethan's born in the last 1-2 years.

But if you love the name, does it really matter if there is another ethan in his class at school?

My ds2 is called Ethan, it wasn't that popular when I chose it, typical that there are now a few younger ones in the area.
