Clementine Daisy (no nn we like)

I love your girls names, all very pretty.

I also love Barnaby George - under-used and not very common so will definitely stand out (in a good way)

Other names for boys I like are:-

Fabien (Fay-bee-an)
Xavier (although maybe a bit X-Men)
Max
Alexander (perhaps too popular)
Rio (my ds's name)
Evan
Ethan
Zack

Hope this helps - I can't think of anymore at the minute

hulabula · 28/05/2009 09:42

Love Clementine Daisy and Violet Faith.

Also love Barnaby George.

Other 'similar' boys names I like:

Quentin
Clement
William

audley · 28/05/2009 09:44

Thanks Kaylo, Fabien is one I hadn't considered, there is, or was, one in DH fav football team, so I don't know if that would be a good or bad thing for him, will ask.

Max and Alexander are both lovely but already taken in my family.

My good friend has a Zak.

Strangely I really like Evan but don't like Ethan at all, not sure why though.

When I was pg with DS I had a dream I had a girl called Kayla!

Thanks hulabula, will see what DH thinks of those boys names. I can never tell, he has previously laughed heartily at the idea of Arthur but now he won't consider much else, so we shall see...

Audley...you're welcome

DH fave football team is ManUtd so you can imagine what people say when they hear my sons name heehee, except he wasn't named after Rio Ferdinand at all - I'd been online looking at names and meanings and I really like the name River but dh doesn't like it at all (and nor do I now ) but apparently Rio means River so we went with that instead - and I love it!! Wouldn't change it for the world.

I wish I was a Kayla - it's soooo pretty, my names boring! lol, but it's all mine and my dad picked it so I cant complain really.

gladders · 28/05/2009 11:10

I always think it's useful to look at siblings when thinking about names?

I know 2 little boys called Arthur - one has a brother called Patrick and the other has a brother called Seth - both nice names?

Don't know any Barnabys? But people we knoe who like the name eventually went for Freddy... and also have daughter called Poppy - any good?

Violet is my fave of your girls' names - Iris is in a similar vein?

dizzydixies · 28/05/2009 11:18

I love Clementine and wanted to use if for DD3 but DH said no

was going to use Cleo as a nn - I know it doesn't exactly fit but I'm of the sod it, my baby I can nn her whatever I like bridage

have you considered Cordelia ?

Arthur nn Art is FAB too but what about

Barnaby and Hugo
Barnaby and Hector
Barnaby and Herbert nn Herb
Barnaby and Gideon
Barnaby and Gabriel
Barnaby and Wilfred nn Wilf
Barnaby and Sidney
Barnaby and Cecil
Barnaby and Alfred

all fabulous imo

LessThenIdeal · 28/05/2009 11:19

I really like Josie as a name on it's own.

audley · 28/05/2009 11:29

Thanks gladders, I go on and off Seth, but it is a bit short with Barnaby I think, Patrick is nice and is a family name, although I've not considered it before, will put it to DH. Strangely don't like Freddy or Poppy at all. On the other hand I adore Iris, it has been on the list but finding a mn that fits with it is a struggle.

Hi dizzy, Hugo was on our short list for Barnaby but DH's friend Hugo died tregically only last month, and we think using his name wouldn't feel right. Hector I adore but a friend has one. Love Herb, but not Herbert, Gideon I did contemplate but sounds a bit harsh. DH wouldn't go for Gabriel, although I love it. Bad associations re Wilfred. Gone off Sidney and a friend has one, Cecil means blind so that puts me off. Alfred is nms either. I am not too keen on fred or bert names I have decided. I rather like Finlay but it's soooo common in my area.

Thanks for the ideas, they feel so nearly right, but not quite!

Thank you LTI, DH loves Josie too, I'm not so sure...

Josephine Hope is gorgeous. I loved Josephine but DH wouldn't let me have it! Def that for a girl!

For a boy what about..

Nathan/Nathanial
Freddie/Frederick
Oscar
Felix
Kieran
Theodore
Peter
Sebastian
Ni cholas
Charlie
Seth
Luca
Wilfred
Douglas
Cassius
Jasper

RedCharityBonney · 28/05/2009 15:08

I love Clementine and Daisy, and Barnaby is perfect. I like your style!

(Need triplets don't you!)

audley · 28/05/2009 16:41

Hi jellybeans,
Nathaniel is a possibility, Felix was Barnaby's 'other' name, we went to hopsital with 2 boys and 2 girls names, he was too fat for Felix! DH says no to Theo. I have an irrational love for Peter, wish Barnaby had Peter as his mn. Could be a possibility, Sebastian is gorgeous but too much for DH to handle I think, our dog is Colin, which is a diminutive of Nicholas, does that matter? Adore Jasper, no from the boss! So will put Peter to him and see...

Barnaby was on our boy's list name - lovely name. We also liked Finlay, Fergus, Fraser, Seth and Dominic

Girls names - love all of your choices but think Josie is my favourite.

audley · 28/05/2009 16:52

Ooh yes, Fraser is growing on me at the moment...

OP posts:
janeite · 28/05/2009 17:11

Love Barnaby. Love Violet Faith. Love Daisy and clementine Daisy sounds cool, although Clementine isn't a name I'd usually go for.

I don't like Fraser tbh and don't think it fits with Barnaby or George very well imho.

I love Gabriel - would your dh not reconsider?

I also like (and think they sound good with the other names):
Vincent
Oliver
Oscar
Laurence (Laurie)
Wesley
Lucas
Edward
Isaac

I am also finding myself strangely drawn to Maurice at the moment!

suwoo · 28/05/2009 17:22

at too fat for Felix. My DS2 due in 9 weeks, will be a Felix and if the other two are anything to go on, he will be a skinny malink.

Am loving chunky Barnaby and skinny Felix imagery.

LaDiDaDi · 28/05/2009 17:24

I like Clementine Daisy most from your girls list. I don't like Violet Faith as I hear it as Violent Faith.

Edwin
Edmund
Gregor
Vincent
Vaughan
Lorcan
Wilbur
Peter
Aubrey

audley · 28/05/2009 17:25

Maurice has been on my mind too for several months, just not sure I'd quite dare. I love Oliver and Edward, but yet again a no from DH. I want to like Vincent but our sirname is 2 syllables with the same c sound in the middle so not sure if we could. Will drop Gabriel in conversation and see how it goes. Thanks for your help

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 28/05/2009 17:29

Edmund for a slight change to Edward or Edwin even?

Themasterandmargaritas · 28/05/2009 17:48

A mum of a Barnaby here, he has a Jasper and a Daisy as siblings.

From your girls list, I rather like Josie.

janeite · 28/05/2009 17:51

Edmund is fab.

audley · 28/05/2009 20:18

LaDiDaDi, sorry I missed your post earlier. Yes, I hear Violent Faith too, sounds like a heavy metal band to me! I don't know if I mind or not. Love Gregory but DH said no. Ditto Edmund. Aubrey nice and quirky but a bit close to Barnaby I wonder?
