I've recently found out I've lost one of our twins at an early scan, and DH & I have been mulling over the idea of finding a name that means 'twin' to use as a middle name for the surviving one. We've found one that we really like, but I'm now feeling uneasy about it, wondering if giving Twin1 this name would make too big a deal of the fact that they should have been a twin - what do you think? Would it be something for them to have to live with, or would it be nice gesture - I'm really unsure!

Any thoughts most welcome!

I tihnk it's a nice gesture. What is the name you found?

I'm trying to think of how I would feel if I were the surviving twin - ..........

I think it would be lovely actually. A gentle and loving reminder of a lost sibling.

hmm not sure, i have twins, and although its a nice gesture - its his or her name that the will carry for life

like his or her birthday isn't reminder enough?

you could maybe do an elvis type this and have the second name as the name you were going to use for the lost twin.

or use something witha twin connotation that is more vague - but that you understand

for instance jacob and esau were twins in the bible ?

Thanks everyone,
I think what you've said choklit and piecenharmoknee have hit on the head what I've been thinking since we started talking about it. It's not like we're ever going to forget about the lost twin, but maybe it would be too much for us than for the baby.
Sorry for your loss too Choklit.
