Names that 'go' with Megan?

I'm not even due till January but i'm already driving myself bonkers trying to think of names. DD is Megan, although we're not Welsh and i don't really fancy any more Welsh - sounding names, just because it might be a bit misleading. Names beginning with 'H' are out too because of our surname. Suggestions for boys and girls both welcome.

I quite like Joshua for a boy, but i haven't got a clue about any others..

A friend of mine has a Megan and a Daniel.
And there are sisters at school called Megan and Alice.

clemette · 17/05/2009 16:31

I have a Megan and her brother is Alexander. If it hadn't been ruled out for family reasons I would also have gone for Daniel (or Nathaniel if DH hadn't laughed out loud at the very idea )

For girls I love names starting with M but wouldn't want sisters to have the same initial. We would have named a girl Edie (so that's Welsh and Scottish for this Anglo-Dutch family!)

liking Alexander and Jasper,

Daniel i like, but i associate with a certain person i'm not so keen on...

Alice is the name of a cousin of mine (would prefer the name to be one not already in the family, unfortunately my extended family is enormous!)

Nathaniel is nice, but don't like Nathan, which people might shorten it to

Edie is nice, but why do i think of Edith Bowman? it's not even the same name!

I know sisters called Megan and Rosie. Think they sound great together.

I'd second thirtysomthing's choice - something more traditional would sound better. Joshua is definitely the best choice, though

Ninjacat · 18/05/2009 13:51

I know sisters Megan and Rosa

I like Megan and Martha

Can't think of a boys name. My Brother is Jonas and I don't think that goes too badly with my name.

It's funny how many Megan's there are these days. When I was young I'd always have to repeat my name because people hadn't heard of it in England.

totalmisfit · 18/05/2009 14:11

oooh, Rosie or Rosa actually popped into my head last night. spooky. mind you she already has a good friend with the name so could be confusing.

have ruled out Clio for some reason

hilarious Renault comment, haven't heard that one before. mind you, i don't think there's a name on the planet that doesn't have something you could take the piss out of if you're that way inclined.
