Italians spell it Marisa...it's usually a nn for Maria Teresa.

tribpot · 17/05/2009 15:30

Yes Mareesa looks like a bad spelling.

Lulumama · 17/05/2009 15:32

Marisa not Mareesa

trixiechick · 17/05/2009 15:48

Weeell... I know a few people with this name here in Ireland, pronounced as you have spelled it. The spelling here though is Muiriosa and is a name made from putting together Mary and Joseph in Irish.(the first syllable is slightly more of a mur sound but very similar~) A friend loved this as her name although she did have to spell it(and usually explain it) for everyone. But then again shes in her thirties and we all had quite boring names.

I would have thought Marisa was a completely different name.

Marisa is nicer than Mareesa, imo. The double ee just doesnt look right somehow.

sockmonster · 17/05/2009 16:08

Marisa is lovely. Mareesa is not.

MrsMattie · 17/05/2009 19:27

Marisa.

I know a Spanish Maria-Luisa who shortens it to Marisa. Also know an Italian Marisa.

RachieB · 17/05/2009 19:46

Marisa is better

onadietcokebreak · 17/05/2009 19:51

Marisa is much nice....goes nice with Grace

skihorse · 17/05/2009 19:55

Why not go totally wild and be the only woman in 2008/2009 NOT to name their daughter Grace?

JoPie · 17/05/2009 20:16

Marisa is v nice, Mareesa looks like you made it up, or deliberately changed the spelling to make it different (which is a real pet hate of mine!)
