Hello
I am loving Cedric at the moment - it is my top spot (still need to convince dh).
What do you think?
Do you think the Harry Potter association will make it popular (I havent read it so dont know how central the character is).
I would hate it to be the new Archie or Alfie or whatever!

Opinions please

I love it. Classic and masculine!

belgo · 12/05/2009 11:57

do you want my honest opinion because it's not good

suwoo · 12/05/2009 12:06

I really can't see it becoming the new Alfie .

Thunderduck · 12/05/2009 12:18

GreatGooglyMoogly · 12/05/2009 12:37

I like it. Also Eric.

warthog · 12/05/2009 12:38

oooh dear. i'm not a harry potter fan so i don't know the references, but i think it's pretty awful. sorry.

seeker · 12/05/2009 12:41

Why? Just why?

malenagrrl · 12/05/2009 13:01

Hmmm I will have to say no. DH's grandfather and one of my uncles are called Cedric so I associate it with old people, not a baby. Sorry!

PestoBlusteryMonster · 12/05/2009 13:02

I love it

ilovemydogandMrObama · 12/05/2009 13:07

No! James Herriot (the farting boxer?)

jeee · 12/05/2009 13:11

Little Lord Fauntleroy

SOLOisMeredithGrey · 12/05/2009 13:19

Just screams elderly man with a comb over to me...so does Cecil.

Meglet · 12/05/2009 13:29

I don't really know the harry potter cedric but I love the name.

I gave my ds what was considered an old mans name and it suits him (possibly becoming popular now ) and all the old people we meet love it .

Fimbo · 12/05/2009 13:49

Cedric the Centipede

jellybeans · 12/05/2009 14:09

I immeidiately thought 'Diggory' but it's an OK name.

tummytickler · 12/05/2009 14:25

GooglyMoogly - Eric is good too! (although dh would NEVER agree to Eric - even in the immediate post labour phase!)
I am determined to get my way with Cedric however - especially as (I have mentioned this in a previous post) his names ar Dougal and Douglas!

MsMargotBeauregarde · 12/05/2009 14:55

I much prefer Diggory. Or Digby. But i don't know if they were good characters or not.

Cedric,,,,,, well,,,,,,,,,,, surprisingly I know of somebody else who considered it. She wouldn't have considered Alfie in a mad fit.

I like Douglas and Dougal with Doogie for short. Taht's cute and classic. But Cedric is just tooooooo......... smarmy.

sockmonster · 12/05/2009 15:34

It is completely horrendous

Tortington · 12/05/2009 15:38

ricky - thats the nick innit
RICKKKKKKKKKKIEEEEEE

ProfMargotBeauregarde · 12/05/2009 15:39

Richie nice though imo.

ProfMargotBeauregarde · 12/05/2009 15:39

I can't believe that there is a quentin thread and a cedric thread.

lifts jaw back up.

mopsyflopsy · 12/05/2009 18:56

Why are you surprised about a quentin and a cedric thread?

They are names, you know. And they are male names. And they are unoffensive names. We all have different tastes. What is so jawuplifting about that?
