Ive just found out that im having a beautiful baby girl so now i can really start to think about names and im soooooo excited!!!!!!

I really like how in twilight bella names her daughter renesmee after her mum and edwards mum, its such a beautiful tribute to the women who raised them. Id like to acknowledge our mums in our baby girls name but im not very good at creative stuff so i thought i would ask you ladys coz i know some of you do creative writing and stuff.

My mum is kathy short for katherine and hubbys mum is called sylvia do you have any ideas?

Katia,

Sylvine (is that a name?!)

MrsMattie · 11/05/2009 16:19

Why not Sylvia Katherine or Katherine Sylvia? Both beautiful names, and much nicer than a made up one.

FrankMustard · 11/05/2009 16:19

I always thought Sylvie was rather pretty and not commonly used.

Boco · 11/05/2009 16:42

Well, if you would like an anagram of katherine and sylvia, how about

Antislavery Hike
Revitalise Hanky
Hairline Yaks Vet

Or to keep it simple, an anagram of Kathy and Sylvia would be
Yak Vat Hi Sky
Lava Thy I Sky

Boco, you must be ace at the cryptic crossword, LOL!

I agree that Katherine and Sylvia are both beautiful names and go nicely together. No need to get creative!

But Boco might've been on to something with Sky - I think Skye is a pretty name for a litle girl and works both their initials in.

Or if you wnat something that's not as obvious:

Sylvanna Kate

I like the anagrams. It could be a tribute to your mums and also a political message and a reference to your favourite sport.

screamingabdab · 11/05/2009 17:50

Boco

I like Sylvie too

boodleboot · 11/05/2009 18:40

mixing mothers names just always makes me think of Princess Tiaami after their repsective mothers Thea and Amy which i am sure most of us can be in agreement is hideous...Silvie Kate is nice tho...

TrillianAstra · 11/05/2009 18:41

I think I need to apologise, I wrote this as a joke and you guys have been so kind and lovely (well, perhaps not Boco ) and I was hoping you would take the piss.

I thought it would be funny.

boodleboot · 11/05/2009 18:48

wow....an alterego....very clever....you have to be careful on MN about taking the P tho as who knows when it is a genuine request for suggestions....but thank christ this poor baby will escape an unfortunate amalgamation of names....

Boco · 11/05/2009 18:49

I WAS kind and lovely, I spent hours making helpful anagrams you swine!

( I knew it was a joke )

SoupDragon · 11/05/2009 18:50

thank the lord it was a joke.

SoupDragon · 11/05/2009 18:50

although Skat works well.

TrillianAstra · 11/05/2009 19:02

Hardly an alter ego. It's not as if I concocted an elaborate backstory and posted carefully for weeks to make a credible persona! I thought you would all immediately go and start taking the piss.

TrillianAstra · 11/05/2009 19:04

If you want to be rude I posted again on AIBU and they're being much funnier over there.

I get your point boodle, I guess I wasn't outrageous enough in my crazy name-squishing persona! Next time I will be sooooo crazy that you will know immediately that I couldn't possibly be a real person.

MsMargotBeauregarde · 11/05/2009 20:13

lol at boco! that keeps it really simple!

I agree that either Katherine Sylvie or Sylvia Katherine sounds better than an invented combo, but what about Cynthia. that has some of the sounds of Sylvia and Kathy but is a new name, her own name.

Although........... I prefer Sylvie Katherine.
