Zach or Alex?

We just found out we are expecting a DS2 so are narrowing down names... Still need to come up with more to choose from but I'm liking Zach and Alex. DS1 is called Jamie.

What do you think of both Zach and Alex?

We would put the full names on the birth certificate but I like shorter names DS1 is really James but I preferred Jamie! Thanks for positive comments about brothers, I'm looking forward to (hopefully) seeing them develop a great bond .....or trash the house

Only thing about Alex is that it's DH's middle name (Alexander) and James is DH's first name!!! ie both sons could be seen as being named after DH but that's not really the case, it's more that we just like the names. Would that be too weird?

Zach

TheFallenMadonna · 07/05/2009 23:39

I like Alec.

Zach.

My dd is Alex - but there are a lot of them around!

Thunderduck · 08/05/2009 14:27

If you're using the shortened versions then I prefer Zach.

I prefer Alexander actually but I don't like just Alex.

SarahL2 · 08/05/2009 14:40

My DS is Alexander (we call him Alex) so I am obviously biased

Tortoise · 08/05/2009 14:46

My DS2 is Zachary Alexander! SO i like both names.
Prefer Zach to Alex though.

lastboxoftampons · 08/05/2009 15:16

I like them both very much. I think Alex is very common now, though. there's lots of them around. Zach is still slightly unusual.

Isn't trashing the house a bonding exercise for little boys!?!? Congratulations!

Alex. DS#1 is Alex(ander). Not common at all around here. Like Zach oo but not Zachary.

Wheelybug · 08/05/2009 15:21

I love both but have a nephew called Alex and my cousin has a Zach so we couldn't use either. We also had 2 girls .

jellybeans · 08/05/2009 15:23

Zach definately, much cooler and not unisex.

sachertorte · 08/05/2009 15:32

I like both, but Alex and Jamie go together better than Jamie and Zach..

SarahL2 · 08/05/2009 15:40

I actually know more Zach's than Alex's...

lastboxoftampons · 08/05/2009 16:37

Hi Ilovemydog - am I mad being back on here!?!?

Oh, and I should clarify, I didn't mean to imply that Alex is 'common' like bad-common, it's just that I know several. It's a name that DH and I both said we liked but then discounted because of the amount of little ones we know with the name.

philopastry · 08/05/2009 16:55

I prefer Alex.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 08/05/2009 20:20

lastboxoftampons -- hey, was just about to start a 'how stupid are Americans' thread

Are you due soon? I had a massive craving for Hershey Bars and Almond Roca when I was pregnant...

cthea · 08/05/2009 20:25

Alex

ilikeyoursleeves · 08/05/2009 21:05
