Middle name for Phoebe

Struggling with a middle name for our daughter (due in 2 weeks). We've decided on Phoebe for a first name but I'd like a 'classy' middle name to go with it.
I like Charlotte and Catherine but husband not keen.
He likes Isabel but I think it's a bit fussy.
Our surname starts with O so no 'O' names else she will have very unfortunate initials!
I'd like to use a family name but there aren't really any that go very nicely - lots of Annes in the family but I don't know if Phoebe Anne sounds very good?
Any ideas?

I like Catherine and Charlotte.

If you have a first name ending in a vowel then the next name starting in a vowel then people sometimes put in an "r" sound where there isn't one, or leave quite a distinct gap between the names to avoid this. How much you like the names and how well they otherwise fit will probably matter more to you but just a point to consider. My dd's first and middle names do this and I didn't notice it at the time of choosing but I'm aware of it now and would consider it in future.

Other ideas for names:

Miranda
Grace
Ruth
Harriet
Beatrice
Genevieve
Nicole
Martha

Phoebe Anne is very pretty - I have a Phoebe...we had considered all sorts of names for her before she arrived and none of them suited her - we took a good few days to settle on Phoebe...we almost had to get to know her first before we could find it out!

livinginadreamworld · 04/05/2009 20:35

If you like Catherine, perhaps a shortened version? My God Daughter is Phoebe Kate.

macherie · 04/05/2009 20:37

I have a Phoebe Isabella

LaDiDaDi · 04/05/2009 20:37

I think Phooebe Anne sounds too much like Phoebe Ran..

but then I gave my daughter the mn Isobel prompting now at 3, "but I'm not a bell mummy".

poshtottie · 04/05/2009 20:37

We had chosen Pheobe Megan for a girl but I quite like Pheobe Grace.

katiepotatie · 04/05/2009 20:39

Was thinking of using Pheobe for bump, who was due 11 days ago! if it's a girl. We are using Elizabeth for a middle name, what ever we chose though.

katiepotatie · 04/05/2009 20:41

that should say choose

wiggyworm · 04/05/2009 20:42

I like Phoebe Ruth and Phoebe Kate or what about Jane or Anna??

mrsjuan · 04/05/2009 20:42

"I'm not a bell"

I'm not sure about single syllable middle names.
I'm quite liking Harriet - I'll suggest it to husband.
I also like the sound of Phoebe Nicole but I don't actually like the name Nicole if you see what I mean!

A second vote for phoebe rose

mrsjuan · 04/05/2009 20:58

Louise is my middle name (together with most girls born in the 80s!).
I do quite like Phoebe Louise but is it a bit vain to name her after myself?!

Phoebe Elizabeth
Phoebe Marianne
Phoebe Marie
Phoebe Constance
Phoebe Laura

MollieO · 04/05/2009 21:03

Phoebe Mae?

hellymelly · 04/05/2009 21:03

Anne,or Elizabeth ?Rose is nice ,and Louise is nice too,I don't think its vain.

mrsjuan · 05/05/2009 11:59

Did consider May but I think it's a bit too 'little girly'. Rose is a bit too popular.
I do like Joy - it's a lovely meaning. I also like Constance but it might be seen as trying too hard.
Love Margaret but don't know if I'm brave enough - family would think I'd gone mad!
