Rae

We considered Madeleine Rae (Maddy Rae) for dd3. Very pretty I think

GossipMonger · 02/05/2009 21:38

Rose is a bit 'meh!' and everyone seems to use it. It is the Jane of the noughties!

Madeleine Grace

Madeleine Frances

Madeleine Amy

Madeleine Ophelia

Madeleine Prudence

Madeleine Beatrice

I do think it is nice to use names for middle names that mean something ie after a relative or a family name.

My DD age 7 is Madeleine Rose. I love her middle name, but probably wouldn't choose it now after all the various Rose comments that crop up on here all the time. We did call her Maddie Rose when she was a toddler although she has outgrown that now. If I was choosing again and keeping Madeleine (which again I probably wouldn't as, although I love the name, DD had some nasty teasing at school during reception and year one when it sadly gained notoriety) I would go for

Madeleine Eden
Madeleine Eve
Madeleine Mat(h)ilda or possibly reversed for better aliteration
Madeleine Maisie
Madeleine Mia
Madeleine Miranda (Don't like the name Miranda much but it was DH's first choice, as I've mellowed think I should perhaps have given in)

DD loves having Rose as a middle name btw. She often chooses rose patterned fabrics - for nighties, swimming costumes etc, she always sends roses when we need flowers (Grandad's funeral, easter bouquets etc) and sees anything with roses on as personalised for her - useful as Madeleine doesn't crop up on pencils, mugs etc. Probably if Rose is what you like you should go for it.

My Madeleine is Madeleine Ophelia (for my grandmother) though I realise that probably won't be to everyone's taste.
