Hi.
I already have a dd who is nearly 4 called Pearl. Would it be utterly rediculous to have another dd called Coral? I think it is really pretty, but not sure they go.
Other siblings are Iris, Eli and Amos so maybe wouldnt be tooo bad.
Also , what do you think of the name Coral?

I'm not a fan of Coral, not sure why - I love your other DCs names though

what about
Beatrice
Celia
Celeste
Effie
Esme
Camille

no. both remind me of oldish ladies. I know a Pearl who is oldish and she is such a busybody. A nice busybody but one none the less. She is my mum's next door neighbour and she makes best guard dog. She reports back if she had any visitors while she was gone, how many times her phone rang when she was away etc.

Don't like Coral as much as Pearl I'm afraid.

I don't like the colour Coral...

Other gemstone-type names?

I like Coral. It goes nicely with your other dc's names.

I know the nicest girl named Coral she is hilarious, kind, fantastic. I like its similarity to corazon (heart in spanish) and I guess I randomly associate Cora- names with this, also it has a tropical undertone...

However the name Coral really does make me think of a Southern US accent, smudged blue eyeliner, cheap perfume and a crepey decolletage. I'd keep it as a middle name, definitely don't cross it off entirely.

pearl and ruby would make you popular in it circles. i couldn't understand why dp was so keen on them until i realised they were both programming languages

personally i love pearl but not so keen on coral (mostly cos i don't like the colour) and tbh it's verging on comedy theme names imho.

Corinna was a very close contender for DD3 with nn Cora or Nina

what about Nancy?

mejon · 30/04/2009 15:20

Coralie is lovely - French I think.

tummytickler · 30/04/2009 17:47

I had worried it might be a bit themey.
Also i just saw an advert for the new kids film Coraline, which mad eme think of Caroline, which made me think of Coral and Carol being a bit too similar.
