What do you think of this for a boy? I think I like it (dp's choice).

biblical or Sleepless in Seattle? I like it either way!

foxinsocks · 25/04/2009 15:14

I like it. I knew a rather gorgeous Jonah at school which has always predisposed me to liking the name

littlelamb · 25/04/2009 15:16

I think of Jonah Takalua
But I love it all the same and it was a real contender for ds

MANATEEequineOHARA · 25/04/2009 15:24

Really love the name Jonah!

troutpout · 25/04/2009 15:26

Rindercella · 25/04/2009 15:28

Hmm. I really, really love it!

Thunderduck · 25/04/2009 15:35

Love it.

suwoo · 25/04/2009 15:38

I really like it but already have a Noah and didn't want to recapture any further bible stories .

DuffyFluckling · 25/04/2009 16:06

I knew a lovely American Jonah (ie a Jonah from America, not 'American Jonah Smith').

What is the meaning?

sockmonkey · 25/04/2009 16:13

I know an absolutely lovely Jonah. It's a great name

littleboyblue · 25/04/2009 16:23

I really like it, I wanted it for ds2 but ds1 is Jacob and thought it might be a bit too much so we settled on Luke. Kept the biblical theme, but was a bit more subtle.
I love, love, love Jonah though

lu9months · 27/04/2009 20:43

I have a jonah, and I love the name. I always thought we would shorten it to joe, but we dont.it is a handsome name, and he is the only one at his school. I also have a sacha (boy)

pottycock · 27/04/2009 20:44

I LOVE this name. I used to have a canary called Jonah.

hester · 27/04/2009 20:55

Um. At my secondary school 'Jonah' was an insult.

I think it meant a person who brings bad luck.

However I really like it and as I was at school 20 years ago, I doubt he would have a problem now

Concordia · 27/04/2009 22:04

yup i love it. but he did have a lot of bad luck or something?
It sounds cute for a boy and big and manly for a man.

Horton · 27/04/2009 22:08

I really really like it. Was on my list (only it turned out I was having a girl).

IheartNY · 27/04/2009 22:11

oh i love it!

FrankMustard · 27/04/2009 22:15

Sailors associate the name with bad luck because in the bible Jonah was on the boat when God caused it to sink, which is maybe why although it's a lovely sounding name, you don't hear of many Jonahs around.....worth bearing the meaning in mind as it would be a shame to put that onto a ds, however the actual name I think is lovely...tricky one and only OP can decide whether to go for it...

MogTheForgetfulCat · 28/04/2009 13:04

Love it - tried to get it for DS1 and DS2, but DH not keen, alas. Said it was because of bad luck associations I think this is a bit feeble, and I was v disappointed, as I absolutely love it, think it is gorgeous!

Luxmum · 28/04/2009 13:25

I like it, but it's got a reputation as a bad luck name, obv for the biblical reasons of losing his livlihood and being eaten by a fish etc. For that reason, DH vetoed it. If you're called a Jonah, you're a bringer of bad luck..

EverySingleStar · 28/04/2009 15:06

Love love love love the name, but DP hates it so we're going to use Noah (I think they sound very similar but ... can of worms being opened ...)

CuppaTeaJanice · 28/04/2009 21:50

I think there's a porn star called Jonah Falcon. He's very well endowed.

I found this out from a documentary......
