Conrad? Honest opinions please...

Only two weeks to go to c-section with DC3 and have loved the name Zachary throughout pregnancy. However started to worry its just too popular and is also name of friend's DS.

DH and I suddenly decided we love the name Conrad but don't know if it's just because I'm bored of discussing Zachary.

Anyway, what do you think when you hear the name Conrad? Do you know any? What would it get shortened too?

Want honest opinions but not from our families IYKWIM!

Conrad is ok but i prefer Connor.

nowwearefour · 24/04/2009 19:53

Zachary is the name our dd2 would have been if a boy. lovely great name. you have great taste there. Conrad i really dont like however. just sounds a bit 'poncey' to me. go with zachary....

neolara · 24/04/2009 19:54

I know a great Conrad. His name isn't shortened by anyone.

kalo12 · 24/04/2009 19:55

MsMargotBeauregarde · 24/04/2009 19:56

My friend's x was called this. he was a cad and a bounder if ever I met one. he had a yacht mind you!! It's a wanker's name. I still almost quite like it though

wotulookinat · 24/04/2009 20:11

Great name. I went to school with a boy called Conrad.

MrsToffeeCrisp · 24/04/2009 20:12

PMSL at MsMargot, an honest opinion if ever I heard one!! Think its made my DH like it more just because of the yacht!
Generally divided so far - keep opinions coming please!!

Love Zachary tho

Kathyis6incheshigh · 24/04/2009 20:18

I like it. I think of Joseph Conrad who was a great writer.
My friend's ds is Zachary. There are a lot of them about.

LetThemEatCake · 24/04/2009 20:19

I don't like it, sorry. Used to work with a right tosser called Conrad, but even aside from that, am just not keen on it.

I do like Zachary, despite its popularity.

MsMargotBeauregarde · 24/04/2009 20:24

Really?? are you joking Tnog!?

mcflumpy · 24/04/2009 20:28

love conrad, much nicer than zachary.

MsMargotBeauregarde · 24/04/2009 20:31

Tnog, i know it's a different Conrad actually because my friend's bounder x had four children. Tnog has one wild thing!

phew!

VinoEsmeralda · 24/04/2009 20:37

Really nice name!

jellybeans · 24/04/2009 22:49

I don't like Conrad, much prefer Zachary- great name. I don't know any (well, one grown up one) but know a few Zac/Zacks.

hester · 24/04/2009 22:53

I know a really nice Conrad. I'm not so keen on Zachary - there's too many around right now.

MrsToffeeCrisp · 24/04/2009 23:06

Wow, truly divided opinions, thanks everyone! I'm pleasantly surprised how well Conrad has been received- think maybe DH liked it more than me and I expected it to be less popular. Do you think he'd end up Connie?

MrsHappy · 25/04/2009 09:40

Not if you never call him it. My DD's name has been shortened (to Millie which I loathe) by 2 people in her whole life. I gave them the Mrs H death stare and it hasn't happened since .

I suppose it might get shortened to Con, (if you allow it) but that's not bad, is it?

MrsToffeeCrisp · 25/04/2009 10:46

Don't mind Con, can see myself calling him it at times. As long as it doesn't them get lengthened to Convict!!

Think you I can definitely overthink these things!
