Ned, Ted, Isobel and Isadora

My DS is Theodore a.k.a. Teddy.

His cousin is called Edward a.k.a. Ned.

I'm due in October and, if it's a girl, would love to use the name Isadora. But Ned's sister is called Isobel.

Is this just silly? I know there are zillions of girls names out there to choose from.

They are entirely different names IMO.

LetThemEatCake · 24/04/2009 08:27

they are quite similar, especially given the similarities between the boys' names ... and Isadora will always make me think of Isadora Duncan and her grisly death, sorry.

I met a girl at the park one day who was called Isadora ... she was wearing a long flowy scarf and it literally made me shudder

isadora is lovely. they are different enough but only if you don't have the izzy nickname (i presume that isobel is called izzy for short?)

Dora is a cute NN in itself tho.....

when you say his cousin - is that your nephew and niece?

fizzpops · 24/04/2009 11:26

I love all these names, would all have been choices of mine!

If it doesn't bother you too much then I think why not, and like all other associations people will associate Isadora with your DD once they know her.

I like Isadora. Teddy and Dora go well together.

tamsintara · 24/04/2009 12:00

The Isadora I know is Izzy. Isadora, Theodore and Isobel are all too similar.

belgo · 24/04/2009 12:07

Theodore and Isadora are too similar. Lovely names though.

sleepyhead3 · 24/04/2009 12:22

Isadora is really pretty although the bad associations would put me off.
As pointed out by other posters it is too similar to Theodore, not Isobel!

Greensleeves · 24/04/2009 12:24

if you like names that match like Ned and Ted, Isobel and Isadora both shorten to Izzy/Issy which is the same so no good

how about Isobel and Imogen - Izzy and Immie

belgo · 24/04/2009 16:15

Imogen is a good idea. Esther also goes well with Theodore.

dizzydixies · 24/04/2009 20:32

what about Ismay? my DD3 has the middle name Ismay and DD1 is Isabella
