Ok - we are having a boy in a month or so and have come up with the following shortlist.

Now I have searched some previous postings where the names have been slated and so I am ready for the onslaught!

We like:

Orlando
Corbin
Caledon

Thoughts? Bully potential? Does anyone like them?

DS1 has an 'unusual' name and so we kind of have to have something comparable really.

I wanted Jem but DH vetoed it

Have never heard Caledon before but I really like it

rubyslippers · 20/04/2009 20:50

hmm - honestly i don't like any of them

Corbin - is very American

Caledon - sounds like an airline IMO

hmm - Orlando is the best but i wouldn't personally choose it

hulabula · 20/04/2009 20:58

I like Orlando from your list.

cece · 20/04/2009 21:09

The only one I like is Jem

jellybeans · 20/04/2009 22:35

Sorry but i don't like any of them. Corbin is least worst IMO.

LizzyIzzyLou · 21/04/2009 20:25

I dont like any of them, sorry

PlumpRumpSoggyBaps · 21/04/2009 20:37

I'm sorry too, I don't like them. I think possibly Corbin might have the most bullying potential, but I couldn't really tell you why.

BabyBaby123 · 21/04/2009 21:12

awful - Jem is the best out of those lot

ohdearwhatamess · 21/04/2009 21:18

Don't like any. Orlando not as bad as the others though.

littlesilversnowbeetle · 21/04/2009 21:22

could use Jeremy and Jem for short

RachieB · 21/04/2009 22:25

Jem is ok

TwoScrambledEggs · 22/04/2009 12:34

Orlando could be shortened to Disney or Princess if really mean.

littlesilversnowbeetle · 22/04/2009 12:36

well - meanness aside - Orlando could shorted his name to Andy or Ando if he wanted to. I think it's quite a cool name actually.

HellHathNoFury · 22/04/2009 12:49

I think Orlando is cool, could also be Ollie for short.

WinkyWinkola · 22/04/2009 12:50

Orlando is great. Stylish and memorable.

Leannabanana · 22/04/2009 13:00

orlando is great. i like lando as a nickname like lando calrissian out of star wars....i think orlando blooms NN is Orly. which is nice too IMO?

i really dont like caledon.....sounds like a washing powder or something that removes limescale????

whats DS1 called?

namestresses · 22/04/2009 13:02

Thanks all for the advice/opinions

Sadly Jem is most definately out of the window, DH says no!

I have also ruled out Caledon, as whilst I love it, I think that the poor sod will have too many 'how do you spell/say that?' incidents.

So DH favours Corbin and I favour Orlando.

And not because of the holiday destination/Elf/Pirate either

I think you are never going to find a name that everyone likes but I am not too disappointed/upset by the immediate reactions on here - I have seen worse!!

I like orlandoand use to teach a boy with that name. ollie is a good substitute if he hates it as he gets older and im sure that wouldn't be a bully target name.
my children have unusual names and they have always been fine (1 of each)although they have been shortened at times to silly things- i put a stop to it though!!!!

littlesilversnowbeetle · 22/04/2009 13:16

Ando as a shortening is really cool IMO

Could you consider spelling Corbin Corben, and he could shorten to Ben if he wanted to?

screamingabdab · 22/04/2009 17:54

Sorry, do not like any of them (except Jem)

What about Gabriel?

OAPmum · 22/04/2009 18:38

Galen
I believe he was a Greek Physician
