Jeanie is nice, but I'd probably go for Genie.
My 85yr old MiL is Jean!

It could be short for Jeanette? I'm sure I've heard that one. I like the name - don't think I'd use it myself but I do like it.

I know a 16 year old Jean and she is a beautiful and very kind, certainly not an old fuddy duddy, her sister is Joan so perhpas they had a Joan verse Jean and both won in the end

Jean can be short for regina and I have a french riend named Jeannie apparently it is french for Jane

Jean does nothing for me as a name - it seems just to plain and uninteresting.

What about Georgina? You could shorten that to Jean for every day use?
