Rosie - short for...?

After months of debate (and only 2 weeks left to decide) DH and I are settling on the name Rosie as a favourite, but DH insists that this is a nickname and we can't decide on a full name. He likes Rosanna but I'm not so keen. Any other suggestions and what are your thoughts on Rosanna?

Rosamund
Rosalie

Quite like Rosanna - could have Annie based nick names too.

Jennifershesaid · 16/04/2009 20:36

Rosanna makes me think of the 80s song by Toto - sorry

I think just Rosie is ok - more comnmon these days to have just a short name eg Charlie, Molly etc ?

lou33 · 16/04/2009 20:37

i know 2 rosies who are just rosie

MrsMattie · 16/04/2009 20:37

Most of the Rose names are lovely.

Rosanna is beautiful. I love Rosa, too.

Rosalie, Roisin, Rose, Roseanne all nice names.

Rosamund is foul, though, sorry!

rnbsmum · 16/04/2009 20:41

My DD is called Rosalyn who is always referred to as Rosie. Out of the other options, I think that Rosa is lovely - though doen't really need "shortening" to Rosie I s'pose...

piscesmoon · 16/04/2009 20:43

I like Rosamund. Rosalind is pretty.

spenthen · 16/04/2009 21:00

I know a very tiny (three week old!) Rosie who is short for Rosemary.

hester · 16/04/2009 21:03

fidelma · 16/04/2009 21:13

PlumBumMum · 16/04/2009 21:15

I know a Rosie

but what about Roseleen

BlueChampagne · 17/04/2009 12:49

Rosanne/Roseanne is subtly different to Rosanna (IMO).

LizzyIzzyLou · 17/04/2009 14:12

Rosanna is lovely. DD will be Rosanna shortened to Rosa

4thtimeround · 21/04/2009 12:21

How about Rosetta, unusual enough to be distinctive but appealing in its own right

Alishanty · 21/04/2009 13:58

I like Rosalie

littlesilversnowbeetle · 21/04/2009 13:58

Roisin

frazzledoldbag · 21/04/2009 15:01

All the Rosie's I know are just 'Rosie' - not short for anything.
And I know one who is a 'Rose' but who gets called Rosie as her nickname and Rose is her posh name (IYSWIM). Which I like.

lastboxoftampons · 21/04/2009 15:07

Rosalinda
Rosina

wolfear · 23/04/2009 21:52
