pointydog · 16/04/2009 16:54

yes. madeleine nice too.

SouthernMeerkat · 17/04/2009 08:56

Yes, we have one, so I love it!

There is another thread about it further up/down the page - it is now very popular so you may end up having more than one in a class, although my DD is coming up to 4 and I only know one other one here (who is 3 years older)

morningpaper · 17/04/2009 08:57

Nice although everyone will call her Tilda which will annoy you

ime

rubyslippers · 17/04/2009 09:18

Another thread on this recently discussing its popularity.

I have a Mathilda. We call her Tilda through choice.

Don't like Tilly at all. Cutesy, twee, bleurgh.

rubyslippers · 17/04/2009 10:21

SOH - do you spell it with an 'h'?

I am not made keen on Tilly and prefer Tilda or Matty as a shortening TBH

i do really like it, and DH agrees which is a plus!

like Matilda too - preferably without an 'h' in it

Tilda is another shortening that I like too

rachels103 · 17/04/2009 11:22

Love it! Would be on our list if it didn't sound silly with our surname, and I like Tilda as a shortening.
What about Jemima?

ShowOfHands · 17/04/2009 11:48

Yes I spell it with the 'h'.

Perfectly legitimate, non made-up, Germanic spelling. I know of another MNer who has the same spelling for quite poignant reasons.

3boys4girls · 17/04/2009 14:58

I love it, I'm pushing my sister to choose it for her (overdue) baby, she likes the nickname Tilly but her Dp hates matilda

Ronaldinhio · 17/04/2009 15:11

madelaine is nicer but both are good tbh

my friends say my daughter is like Matilda from the book I don't know what they mean...

BabyBaby123 · 17/04/2009 20:32

don't like it! over used round here as well

randomname · 17/04/2009 20:48

Love it but do know four under 5
