What do you think of Iris? I love it but can't get over the whole eye association thing?! I am trying.

I was just going to start a thread about this. I'm planning on calling my baby due in 4 weeks 'Iris Matilda'. My auntie at the weekend said it was an awful name, but only because she knows someone who is mad called Iris. She insisted that I call the baby Ruby, this is even if its a girl (we don't know the sex) I like old fashioned names, and orignally had Ava and Ruby on my list, but they are just too popular and fear they will date the child. Iris is traditional and delicate, very classy also and I don't know anyone else who has named their child this personally. Glad you all like it, you have reassured me in my choice.

Sarahken - my dd8yrs is Iris Matilda! Really cute combination, i just love it! The Iris is a bit more classic and unusual, but Matilda is a super trendy more popular mn, 'just in case' for the future.
My Iris loves her name, she loves that she has never met another one, and the flower and also the connection to the eye (the eye connection is part of the reason i chose it . . . window to the soul and all that).
Well . . . thats my ramble over!

I love it, dd2 was almost Iris, but ended up with it as middle name instead.
