I like Tristram but is it awful that it means sorrowful??

As for Timon - ow would you pronounce it? Like Tim-on, or rhyming with simon?

I thought Tristam was old Cornish for Tristan, and Tristan is Cornish for Thomas.

Tristram is a mouthful, though. That would put me off it. I have a Tristan, he's nearly 5 and can't even say his own name clearly yet, never mind if it had an extra r in it.

Timon is okay but it's a particular character in Lion King (the one with flatulence problem?).

I have a Tristan WHen I was reading up about it I later read it meant sorrow but also that it means noisy- and it does!

I have to say that Tristan does bring to mind Peter Davison and Tristram reminds me of the book Tristram Shandy (which I haven't actually managed to finish about 10 years I began studying it).

I'm not quite sure what that says about my viewing or literary tastes .
