do you automatically think: 'Dirty Gerty from number 30' - or is it just me?

Not for me, BF is expecting girl and she thought I was insane for making the link.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Lizzylou · 07/04/2009 11:36

Sorry, yes, I do!
Do they live at number 30???

paolosgirl · 07/04/2009 11:38

Me too - and probably everyone else apart from your BF

littlelamb · 07/04/2009 11:39

No
I think Drew Barrymore in ET

Nancy66 · 07/04/2009 11:55

It's a cute name - just a shame about the connotations.
Lizzy, luckily they live at No14 !

Isn't it short for Gertrude?

Lawks · 07/04/2009 11:56

Love love LOVE this name. Would LOVE to use it if we had another girl, but dd1 has quite a pretty, cute name so it wouln't go at all. It would be like having a Fifi-Trixabelle and a Joan.

My d-i-l wanted Gertie or Nellie and it was so hard to smile and not sing 'Off she went with a trumpety trump' or to allude to dirty Gertie.Thankfully they settled on Rosie.

Plonker · 07/04/2009 12:07

No. I too think of Drew Barrymore in ET

VeryAnnieMary · 07/04/2009 13:55

Wouldn't have occurred to me, but then these types of "connotations" (sp?)and rhymes never really do, to be honest.

Bonneville · 07/04/2009 14:31

yes dirty gerty comes to mind first followed by girty guinea pig.

Littlefish · 07/04/2009 14:37

It always makes me think of a fat person.

BabyBaby123 · 07/04/2009 14:40

my first thought was Gerty guinea pig food - is it short for anything?? Gerty on it's own doesn't give the poor child many options imo!
