I do but it does make me think of Hollyoaks or football which I find off-putting

suwoo · 06/04/2009 10:18

I like it for someone else but not sure it would work with a one syllable surname.

mrsdisorganised · 06/04/2009 10:21

I like it and it depends on the surname.....

How about Solomon with Sol as a nickname?

mumnosbest · 06/04/2009 10:38

Sol is a spanish beer, quite popular, they sell it in Asda

Nancy66 · 06/04/2009 10:39

i love it but don't know that it works with a short surname.

WinkyWinkola · 06/04/2009 10:41

I'd use Solomon to give the child a wider choice and call him Solly when he's little.

It's more unusual than Sol (apart from in Jewish community!) and you won't get all the lame beer jokes for decades afters. And every single person will think they are the first person to think of the beer association.
