This is my sons name
We call him Dex and Dexxy

Disenchantegg3 · 05/04/2009 12:12

No-one has ever mentioned the TV programme upon hearing his name, though e is 3 and was named before that show came out.

It's a lovely name - my cat's name is that (not named by me, he was adopted)

and Dex-Dex, but we baby him alot (hes only little)

Nancy66 · 05/04/2009 12:37

My opinion is it's more of a pet's name than a child's name.

ten10 · 05/04/2009 12:48

It will always be associated with Dexter Fletcher for me,
(and I don't see this as a good thing)

Salleroo · 05/04/2009 12:58

Absolutely love it. Was what we were going to call our DS but we got a DD.

It got seriously mixed reviews though, my mother begged us not to use it and everyone else either loves or hates it. We are keeping our names to ourselves this time!

Dex is great, he'll be an international DJ

Disenchantegg3 · 05/04/2009 13:00

We call him DJ because he is Dexter James

LetThemEatCake · 05/04/2009 14:25

I'm not keen.. sorry to those of you with a dexter ... it makes me think of a computer geek. But usually I love names with an x in them.

ScorpiowithabigS · 05/04/2009 14:26

YES

love love love it. I am mourning 'my' Dexter as my last baby was a girl!

LisaLouby27 · 05/04/2009 14:29

What names do you like with an 'x' letthemeatcake?

my daughter's name - Phoenix (although I like this for a boy, too)

Xavier
Xander/ Alexander/ Alexa/ Alexis etc
Flaxen (joke)
Saxon (hmm, half joke)
Felix
Max
Maddox (well, half like, but ruined by old trout face Jolie)
Rex

LisaLouby27 · 05/04/2009 15:08

I like Phoenix for a boy, might start a new thread for that, would you mind?

Never heard of any serial killer called Dexter. Although I said on the board the other day if you can use Ted (bundy) why not Jeffrey (dahmer)

Dexter is ok, bit I prefer Rex. Latin for King?? I think. If so, very cool.

ItsMargotBeauregarde · 05/04/2009 15:19

What about Lennox?

I wouldn't dream of it myself, but at least it's not one of Brangelinas' tribe.

LetThemEatCake · 05/04/2009 16:02

LisaLouby - of course not! I don't have the patent on the name Nice to hear someone say they like it - we've had a lot of stick about it over the years

LilyBolero · 05/04/2009 16:10

Dexter always reminds me of Dex Dexter from Dynasty.
