Usernametaken beat me to it...

I know a Tatiana, and she shortens it to Tian. Lovely.

MrsMattie · 06/04/2009 17:40

I know a Tatyana (different spelling) who's NN is Yana.

BikeRunSki · 06/04/2009 18:07

Annie?

lucasnorth · 06/04/2009 18:35

Err... the diminutive of Tatiana is Tanya.

braveandcrazy · 06/04/2009 19:13

Tatiana is the diminutive of Tanya - Russian diminutives are often longer than the name.

Could be shortened to Tatya?

lucasnorth · 07/04/2009 17:55

braveandcrazy - no, sorry but wrong way round. Tanya is the diminutive

(Here or here, if you don't believe me)

charitygirl · 07/04/2009 18:04

tat, tats, or tatty are fine - loads of posho girls called that!

although that may not be a plus actually.

Paleodad · 07/04/2009 22:40

I have a close friend called Tatyana, and she is universally known as Tana. I think she told me once that this is quite a common nickname for tatyana's in germany.

Paleodad · 08/04/2009 13:22

Sorry, and it's pronounced 'Tana' as in 'hannah'.

midnightexpress · 08/04/2009 13:27

tatty = potato round these parts

MynameisTanya · 08/04/2009 14:17

Loving the name Tatiana, and I must say I think Tanya is a wonderful name to use as a nn About time it had a revival

Louise2004 · 08/04/2009 14:21

In Russian Tatiana is shortened to Tanya. It's quite a popular name in Russia.

gasman · 08/04/2009 18:29

Friend girlfriend is Tatiana.

Widely known at 'tatch'. (like Thatch but with a't' as the initial syllable).

The other name she gets called is Titty which is HORRIBLE.

ItsMargotBeaurEGGarde · 08/04/2009 18:32

Yes, Ana is the best you can take out of Tatiana.

Tia and Tiana are just ch dreadful dahling.

ItsMargotBeaurEGGarde · 08/04/2009 18:33

Oh is Tanya short for it? Never knew that!

In that case Anya could be short for Tatiana.

KERALA1 · 08/04/2009 18:59

Sorry really hate it. Sounds like a stripper

mollymodge · 28/09/2009 11:41

I LOVE Tataina! We're in the process of deciding too (due date 14 Nov). We already have a Tabitha. (My sister and I are Abigail & Anastasia respectively, so I have no problem with them having the same initials ... we're going with Edward for a boy ...) BUT - have you had your baby? Did you call her Tatiana? Tati? I'd love to know!? What was the reception like? I LOVE Tati as a NN! What was your chosen middle name?

I do love it. It's one of the oldest names in history hence you can hardly find a correct meaning for it ... and one of the last Romanov Grand Dudchesses - so I.M.O. not trashy at all.

Good luck choosing!

GrendelsMum · 28/09/2009 12:20

You'll be able to sing to her from Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin - "I will not deceive you, yes, I love Tatyana madly"

MrsBadger · 28/09/2009 12:32

mollymodge

child in question was born in April so presumably OP has chosen already...
