how many Ls in Calum/Callum

just after spelling advice....

Calum/Callum is the only boy's name that we can agree on, but we cannot decide how to spell it. We are not Scottish (just in case that influences opinion as from what I can gather Calum is a more authentic Scottish spelling). Just wondered what people think is a more natural spelling/looks better etc

I've only ever seen it spelt with 2 'LL's.

SoupDreggon · 04/04/2009 07:58

2

SparklyGothKat · 04/04/2009 07:59

My Callum has 2 L's

SoupDreggon · 04/04/2009 08:05

I have a feeling that one L is the traditional (Scottish) way to spell it.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 04/04/2009 08:12

Yes, it is

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 04/04/2009 08:12

I however prefer two Ls, despite being Scottish!

Babbity · 04/04/2009 08:13

Calum is the traditional (Gaelic) way.

SoupDreggon · 04/04/2009 08:14

It does look odd with only 1 L to my strictly southern eyes. I have stared at it wondering if I should have used 1 for DS1 but it just looks wrong.

RachieB · 04/04/2009 10:46

prefer it with 2

nevergoogledragonbutter · 04/04/2009 10:48

my DS1 is Calum.
2 LL's look clumsy to me.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 04/04/2009 10:48

and i'm scottish, so i know it's not 'wrong'.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 04/04/2009 11:02

it's a great name btw.
good choice either spelling.
