Well personally I don't like poncy names, but as poncy names go these are ok I suppose

iggypiggy · 03/04/2009 13:03

I know a dog called Dante... but to be fair - i also know a dog called Dave - so that doesn't mean much...

IheartEASTEREGGS · 03/04/2009 13:03

Dante - dark and broody, good looking ladies man
Quentin - skinny, geeky with glasses and wispy hair

PuppyMonkey · 03/04/2009 13:04

Don't.

Thunderduck · 03/04/2009 13:05

I like both.

FairMidden · 03/04/2009 13:06

Ooooooh no. Sorry.

LetThemEatCake · 03/04/2009 13:18

I like them both.

Poncey my arse. Only to someone bitter and angry.

PrimulaVeris · 03/04/2009 13:24

Like Quentin alot. I know an awful man called Dante and this puts me off - but no reason why it should put you off

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 03/04/2009 13:30

I like Dante. Don't like Quentin at all.

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 03/04/2009 13:34

I like both....

ohdearwhatamess · 03/04/2009 13:37

LOL at PrimulaVeris - my thoughts exactly.

LetThemEatCake · 03/04/2009 13:45

I LOVE Uncle Quentin in the Famous Five!!!

and do you remember the original illustrations? he was dead handsome

PrimulaVeris · 03/04/2009 13:49

I'm thinking of poor Uncle Quentin's portrayal in 'Five Go Mad In Dorset' mind!

Nancy66 · 03/04/2009 13:56

No to both.

PadDad · 03/04/2009 14:34

Dante is the lead character in the foul-mouthed (and mostly funny) films Clerks and Clerks 2.

ChippyMinton · 03/04/2009 14:35

Dante - if you are Italian
Quentin - er,no.

sonniebonnie · 13/04/2009 21:38

I love Quentin - its my ds's name!

Dante is ok but sounds very Spanish/Italian to me....

ItsMargotBeaurEGGarde · 13/04/2009 21:40

Well, Donald Thomas (eg) with Dante as a nn could be a good name, classic but quirky. I prefer Donald though

Quentin. No.

KristinaM · 13/04/2009 21:41

please no

random · 13/04/2009 21:42

no and no

MrsHappy · 13/04/2009 21:42

If you're in the UK don't go for Dante unless you are prepared for everyone he meets to pronounce it "Dontay".

Quentin... might get him duffed up at school. I quite like it otherwise.

annasophia · 13/04/2009 21:49

I like Quentin a lot! Lovely, classic name imo.

Not that keen on Dante unless you're of Latin heritage.
