Nice

ruty · 29/03/2009 19:56

one of those names that is pretty but almost irrevocably linked to old lady status. Could be due a come back though.

ruty · 29/03/2009 19:56

Evie is very sweet.

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 29/03/2009 19:58

my three year old daughter is Evelyn, love it

Sibh · 29/03/2009 20:00

DD2 here is Eibhlín (we're in Ireland) and it really suits her. We don't shorten her name but get called Evelina sometimes too ...

2Helenback · 29/03/2009 20:42

Pretty and elegant.

pandavark · 30/03/2009 02:40

thats a nice name. never really thought about it before.

ZacharyQuack · 30/03/2009 04:36

Lovely.

Leannabanana · 30/03/2009 07:54

really lovely. i like it shortened to Evvie rather than Evie as there are quite a few Evies in my area at the mo

GooseyLoosey · 30/03/2009 08:03

I like it but cannot get used to people saying "Eevelyn", to me it is "Evvelyn".

belgo · 30/03/2009 08:09

Don't like it. It strikes me as trying to choose something different, but at the same time liking Eve or Evie as everyone else does.

And how would you pronounce it? eve-lyn?

kayzr · 30/03/2009 09:02

I love it. I want to use it if we have a girl. It is beautiful.

FairLadyRantALot · 30/03/2009 10:31

I like it, but than my mum is called the german version of the name....however, she always has hated her name...but then, I suppose many people feel like that about their own name...
I think Eva and Eve is very pretty, too

Leannabanana · 30/03/2009 11:07

fairlady - what is the german version out of interest?

FairLadyRantALot · 30/03/2009 11:20

Eveline

Flibbertyjibbet · 30/03/2009 11:28

Its a lovely name, was my grandma's middle name and also used for my sister's middle name.

You can shorten it to eve or evie so she'd have a trendy name now but can have a choice about a more formal name when she is older.

btw our family says 'Evvelyn', but strangers or people phoning quite often use 'Eevelyn'.

Leannabanana · 30/03/2009 11:31

is Eveline pronounced as it looks ie EVER-LINE or EVV-LYN?

Caitni · 30/03/2009 11:33

I love this name! It's unusual (as in not common) but timeless. One of my sisters is called it (she was named after a great aunt). We say 'Evvelyn' and shorten it to "Evvie" rather than "Evie".

Eve · 30/03/2009 11:37

lovely name.. but I am biased!

I pronounce it Evvlynn but spelt evelyn.

I get Evie a lot.

Funnybunnyyumyum · 30/03/2009 11:40

Really lovely name but there are so many Evie's about at the moment if you're thinking of shortening it?

notagrannyyet · 30/03/2009 11:41

Evelyn is lovely.

Don't like it as Ever-Line. That's the way old maiden aunts used to say it when I was a child. Eve-Lyn is much nicer.

FairLadyRantALot · 30/03/2009 11:51

sort of like Ever-lee-neh

EyeballsintheSky · 30/03/2009 11:56

I like it as long as it's Eve-lyn, don't like Ever-lyn, sounds like trying too hard.

Sibh · 30/03/2009 13:22

Everyone automatically says Evv-lyn here in Ireland, so we're saved from Ever-lyn which is not so nice.
