Coochicoo - no Irish heritage as far as I know. I suppose it's possible that great grandparents might have been.

BlueIsTheColour · 29/03/2009 09:19

Jackerlean

conniedescending · 29/03/2009 09:33

O'lyvia [shudder]

StealthPolarBear · 29/03/2009 13:30

at Cursty
I wounder if she gets called Krusty at school?
oh that's awful

pastapestofor6 · 29/03/2009 14:07

I saw Jaike as Jake in a mag the other day
bonkers!!

FfreckleFface · 29/03/2009 14:10

MIL is a midwife, and said that she had a family who called the child Yvonne. Fair enough. However, the mother had only seen it written down...child's name was pronounced Why-vone-ey.

MargaretMountford · 29/03/2009 14:20

the awful thing is that Cursty is one of dh's distant cousins

themoon66 · 29/03/2009 14:34

Rebekkhah.

UnquietDad · 29/03/2009 14:40

Isn't Rebekkhah close to the original Biblical spelling, though? I don't think it's in the same category.

re Jorja - there is an American actress called Jorja Fox.

I think it's time for Baby's Named A Bad Bad Thing again. Prepare to snort.

Metella · 29/03/2009 19:32

Some of these are made up, surely? people can't be that dense?

thederkinsdame · 30/03/2009 21:23

When I gave birth, the folks oppopsite were seriously considering calling their kid....

Buzby

In the end they settled for something far less 'exotic'

As an aside, did you know that Oprah Winfrey's name is allegedly a mis-spelling of a biblical name, Orpah?

chegirl · 30/03/2009 21:48

Souixzanne

AKA Susan

Needless to say the woman who had mangled her name was the least exotic article I have ever met.

chegirl · 30/03/2009 21:49

There was a woman who booked in at the hosptial I worked at (years ago)called Eielieen.

Her dad was so pissed when he went to register her he couldnt spell Eileen. Poor cow.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 30/03/2009 21:50

My friend (ex friend actually) called her daughter Kt. As in Katy.

neenztwinz · 30/03/2009 21:52

Neave and Izaak (they are siblings!!) Their mum is absolutely lovely though just can't spell

I went to school with a Shawn. I thought it was an acceptable variation of Sean?

Fimbo · 30/03/2009 21:59

Ah chegirl that happened to my friend. Her dad went to register her, couldn't spell Jacqueline so she ended up as Susan. At least she got a name instead of a duff spelling of one.

My name's actually spelt wrong, my parents got it wrong at the registrar's. Thankfully its fairly unusual so nobody realises its wrong.

Toffeepopple · 30/03/2009 22:12

My friend taught at quite a rough London school and taught more than one girl called Lanesra (read it backwards).

UnquietDad · 30/03/2009 22:19

Izaak is OK, surely? As in Mr Walton, author of "The Compleat (sic) Angler".

WedgiesMum · 30/03/2009 22:20

Izaak is a correct spelling and a very old english way of spelling it (ie Izaak Walton - google him). Nothing to do with bad spelling (and it's my DS's name )

UnquietDad · 30/03/2009 22:21

toffee --- agh! Just got that one.

Thankfully here are very few children called Yadsendew Dleiffehs or Detinu Sdeel up here.

WedgiesMum · 30/03/2009 22:23

No but there are SEVERAL D'arby 's (boys and girls)

UnquietDad · 30/03/2009 22:24

Any called Srups? Or Aeslehc ?
