Just thought I'd ask opinions on this.
I heard that James Morrison has named his little girl Elsie and I was thinking if you actually disassiociate it with being an old woman's name it is a really pretty name.
15/16 years ago when my sister was named Grace there was a lot of comments on the lines of 'oh that's ermmm...an unusual name these days' and now it's one of the most popular girls names.
Is Elsie making a come back or would I be subjecting my daughter to a life time of cruel old biddy comments?

If we have another DD it's definitely on the list along with Alice and Eliza.

My Nana's name was Elsie. I've just named my baby Eleanor but she gets Elsie for short. Xx

I had a friend named Elsie when I was little. She was a cool girl. Very outgoing, bright, bubbly, a very talented horse rider etc. So I have good (young!) associations with the name, even though she would be in her 20s now.

I like it more than Elise, which is very dull, IMO.

I really like considered it for dd but it is getting quite popular I've met 3 recently (in midlands) not that that would bother me but if you did want something unusual this probably isn't it.

The Elsie in the OP would be 7 years old now....

I think Elsie is much more popular now than in 2009 so quite commonly thought of as a little girl's name rather than anything very old fashioned.

I know a 3 year old Elsie. I like it

My Grandma was Elsie & her sister was Grace... Don't remember the names of any of her brothers apart from George (most of them died in WW1, as did her father).

A pretty old women's name.
