just saw a woman holding up a sign with her daughters name and date of birth...

Ambre. Never heard of it, not pregnant, hoping to get pregnant, would consider it.

I like.

Fench apparently.

well i have to agree with heated

beanieb · 13/03/2009 23:28

bugger. It's a proper French name though, not a bastardisation of Amber, though is probably the same name in french. Hmmmm, is it bad to give a French name if you're not french?

giraffescantdancethetango · 13/03/2009 23:29

It made me think of the cream too

Ronaldinhio · 13/03/2009 23:31

solaire again I'm afraid

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 13/03/2009 23:31

yes it's french for Amber

for you not to know that and not be french kind of stops you using it sweets

diedandgonetodevon · 13/03/2009 23:31

Bad if you are not French IMO- She would always get called Amber

beanieb · 13/03/2009 23:36

Sorry, I thought it was a "Kreatyv" version of Amber! I like Amber though.

Heated · 14/03/2009 14:07

Sorry to rain on your naming choice earlier. I do know some Ambers but they all have fur.

There are lots of attractive French girl's names that are commonly used in the UK though so don't let me put you off!

Joseph is a handsome name.

sfxmum · 14/03/2009 14:08

doesn't that mean hunger in Spanish
?

sophiesmummie · 14/03/2009 16:02

Prefer Amber

RustyBear · 14/03/2009 16:05

I'd prefer Amber, but then I'm biased.

See my profile for an Amber that doesn't have fur...

MsBeauregarde · 14/03/2009 16:09

Hambre is hunger, but Ambre makes me think of Ambre Solaire!

I really like Amber though. Amber the resin (stone) is beautiful and it's a nice name.

MsBeauregarde · 14/03/2009 16:22

Rustybear, your Amber is a beautiful girl.

RustyBear · 14/03/2009 16:34

Thank you MsBeauregarde, I think so too! (She does not take after her mum!)

NotAnOtter · 14/03/2009 22:01

what about Hamble?

NotAnOtter · 14/03/2009 22:08

pretty name

dooit · 14/03/2009 22:19

LOL NAO. I was always scared of Hamble. She had such an evil little face. Weird name too. Wonder where they got it from?

MollieO · 14/03/2009 22:28

Isn't Hamble a port on the Solent?
