i really like Honey for a midle name as our mothers names are Lily which is actually the meaning of the name susannah and Pamela which has the meaning honey...

DH husband has thrown Daisy into the mix as his first choice, which i agree is a very pretty name but i really think it lacks something....Susannah sounds so elegant and has the Susie option for a little one....what do you reckon, am i being silly and obsessing about her having a 'grown up' name???

I think you'll be ok with Susannah and no shortening it.

I worked with someone who called OC Susannah because she loved the name. Second name Jane. Then proceeded to always call her Jane, never Susannah!

I know a Susannah who is only called Susannah - never shortened. It's a lovely name.

It is a fab strong and pretty name, distinctive but not weird, and everyone will like it.

BUT be warned.

She will have to spell it every time she gives her name out to anybody.

No one will ever spell it correctly (And BTW, your spelling of it is the best!)

She will also spend a large part of her life being called Suzanne.

OP, I second all of the above from Merrylegs BUT I still love my name to bits. It's strong, grown-up, pretty, classy yet easily shortened for everyday use. And quite unusual these days without arousing the ire of the 'proper name' lobby.

I am cheered to hear of Susannah's tht love their name....i always enjoyed my name and think that is really luck as so many people have name regrets....even my daughter wishes i'd called her elizabeth instead of just ellie so am determinied not to make same mistake IYSWIM....I will dig in and stand up for Susannah to my flighty DH....i mean really the man suggested BLOSSOM last night....

Oh hooray, at last - I always offer up Susannah on the baby naming threads (well, the girl ones anyway) and I do think it is so much more original atm than all the Ella/Grace/Millie/Lily/Freya options.

Coming belatedly to this, I am a Susannah who has never shortened her name. I love it. It's great and works well professionally, as well as just being a lovely name. It's got everything you need in a name; relatively rare, without being odd; pretty but strong, options to shorten if you like...

Go for it. And keep the spelling you have here too...
