Constance (my granny)

Faith hope and charity (for triplets)

How about some modern ones -
Imagination
Creativity
Diversity

My sis is Felicity. She doesn't like it.
She once told a boy she was called another name (her middle name) so when he phoned for her he was told by Mum "no-one here by that name". H

LOVE honor

sleeplessinthecity · 12/03/2009 15:26

I have a niece called Hope and she is the most well behaved little girl (and baby) you have ever met. Love the name.

LuLuBai · 12/03/2009 15:32

I like Liberty and Honor a lot

You have to be careful as names like 'Patience' can be rather hard to carry off if the bearer doesn't always match the name.

nailpolish · 12/03/2009 15:38

dd2 has a little friend called Honor Rose

I don't know whether you could count Serena.

EdwardBear · 12/03/2009 16:36

I know a little girl called Cadence, which sounds lovely.
No idea what it means but it sounds like a virtue type name!
Also love Honor and Clemency

SamsMama · 12/03/2009 16:44

I really like Serenity...I knew a little girl named that, she was called "Ren" and "Rennie" for short. Any fans of the American sci-fi show "Firefly" might like it too... Honor is also a pretty name IMO, as well as the old standbys Hope, Faith and Grace. Joy is pretty too, and such a nice sentiment IMO.

hedgiemum · 12/03/2009 18:39

Felicity and Verity my favourite. Does my dd's name kind of count - Celeste (heavenly)?!

Don't worry about a child not matching up to the virtue they're called as I think words are very powerful and constantly hearing the word "truth" applied to yourself (in the case of Verity) means you're not going to grow up a terrible liar... Pregnancy brain is stopping em explaining what I mean well....

RhinestoneCowgirl · 12/03/2009 18:43

My 11 wk old is a Verity, so naturally I like that one... I liked Felicity too.

LuLuBai · 12/03/2009 18:45

But hedgiemum it could be embarrasing when your toddler is sprawled across the supermarket floor in full-on tantrum mode and you have to say "Patience, get up. You can't eat the grapes until we get home."

Leannabanana · 12/03/2009 19:00

verity is prettu popular on this thread...and a very pretty name too...we already have one in the family tho so thats out.....i really like honor rose..that sounds gorgeous....

Plonker · 12/03/2009 19:55

I love Hope. I wanted to call dd3 Hope but dh wouldn't let me

It is her middle name instead and I secretly yearn that she chooses to go by her middle name when she's older

PersephoneSnape · 12/03/2009 20:34

cordelia - from cordially (yours)

my first thread cross-over.

Hulababy · 12/03/2009 20:35

DD's friends are called Liberty and Grace.

Babbity · 12/03/2009 20:36

My sis is Felicity too and she also hates it. She also doesn't suit her name as she's a grumpy high maintenance sort of a gal.

rempy · 12/03/2009 20:37

Cadence is a musical term! Not exactly a virtue. Or a name.....

Hulababy · 12/03/2009 20:37

Oh and there is a Prudence at school too.
