I am due with number 3 in a few weeks, we don't know the sex but I am really stumped for a boy's name.

I really like Howard (Howie for short) but our eldest is Edward - do you think they are too similar?

Any other suggestions will be gratefully recieved - to give an idea of what I like, DH has already vetoed Dominic, Jeremy, Rory and Zachary!

Ahh I like it
I like Hughey too, if thats how you spell it?

SniffyHock · 12/03/2009 10:28

I like Hugo and Toby too - so you don't think Edward and Howard is too much?

My dh is called Toby, everyone loves it,
Edward and Howard are nice, he will prob get called Ed tho? I prefer Howard from those
two

Nancy66 · 12/03/2009 11:24

Howard is very boring and unsexy - it's a middle aged bloke in a cardigan and polyester trousers making model planes in his shed.

I'd put it in the same league as: Brian, Bernard or Dennis

chocolatemummy · 12/03/2009 11:28

ahh Nancy thats a bit harsh lol
I had the same response when I was considering Peter luckily I had a girl.

HeyMa · 12/03/2009 11:31

howard in take that is not boring or unsexy!!!! altho' jason orange my fave

yeah howard's a cool name and it's nice that it goes with edward IMHO

HowardMoon · 12/03/2009 11:49

I think it's a perfectly acceptable name

I love it! I think Howard is a rather strong and sexy name for a man, and Howie is cute for a toddler...

DP was the same with me he vetoed Dominic, Sebastian and Seth

5 years ago when pg with dd he wanted Gabriel and i vetoed that - however bump due in 3 days will be Gabriel as i now love it!

Looking along the lines of your above names how about Gregory or Arthur, maybe Toby or Vincent (Vinnie?) ?

SniffyHock · 12/03/2009 20:41

LOL @ 'middle aged bloke in a cardigan and polyester trousers making model planes in his shed.'!!! I wanted all opinions

Wolfblass - we obviously share similar taste although I vetoed Seth myself when I realised that where we live he would be destined to be 'Seff' forever! Gregory is on my list but I used to work with a foul Vincent so that isn't. I also love Sebastian but don't think I can have Ed and Seb.

Current faves are now Howard, Toby (Tobias? Tobin?), Gregory and James (DH's choice).

Hopefully not too long to find out

I was going to post about the strange clown with chains, but got beaten to it!

'I've been waiting for so long.....'

Tinker · 25/03/2009 19:39

Yes, I quite like Gregory. Howard is shocking. No! Especially not with an Edward.

screamingabdab · 25/03/2009 20:30

Nigel is better than Howard

TheJester · 25/03/2009 20:31

I like Gregory and Howard. Not Nigel.

Howie with Ted would be great, but Howard and Edward would be too matchy.

LurkerOfTheUniverse · 25/03/2009 20:35

someone I know is called Howard Gregory

he is definately not sexy or alluring in any shape or form

TheJester · 25/03/2009 21:24

Is his sur name Gregory? Howard a sur name too come to think of it.

NotanOtter · 25/03/2009 21:25

sounds absolutely fab

über cool in my honest and very vakid opinion

hayley2u · 25/03/2009 21:26

no dont like howard at all nor dominic or jeremy im afraid. i love the name rory tho. how bout leighton i love that name and i love toby or thomas xx

TheJester · 25/03/2009 21:28

There's a Howard on The Apprentice. I still like it though.

It's a good choice, don't be like everyone else, pick something that isn't popular and isn't urban-chic old man (Arthur, Stanley).

Howard is genuinely a bit different without being mad.

Leannabanana · 26/03/2009 07:26

Howie.....adorable. love it.
