Shortened to Rosa for a nickname

I have a great aunt called Rosetta,who everyone calls Rosie.
I haven't heard of Rosita before but quite like Rosa

I have problems with Rosa due to my surname(thats on another whole thread) but Rosita waas suggested, DH quite likes it (which is amazing) so I thought we could use it and shorten it to Rosa which I love

Rosita is a nice name, but I'm certain that it is a diminutive of Rosa in Spanish, ie the formal name is Rosa, and the nickname is Rosita, just as the diminutive of Eva is Evita.

But that is just the pedant in me.

It's my MIL's name so will always be a small, whingey, Italian, old lady's name for me.

I love Rosa but because of surname (Lee) I think Rosita would be better as an 'offical' name and Rosa as nickname
