Hi,

Hubby and I have been talking names and for a girl we have no problems but for a boy we like Leo the only problem is the surname Lawrence what do you think?

My Dad alliterates too, so I don't think it's necessarily a problem. And Leo Lawrence really rolls (and rocks)!

heartmoonshadow · 04/03/2009 16:36

Oh thank you - sorry took ages to reply I think mumsnet crashed - or at least my computer did!

No sorry I don't like it.

lotspot · 04/03/2009 18:07

i think it depends on the names rather than one general rule....

but i love Leo Lawrence its got a great ring to it and sounds so cool

Spidermama · 04/03/2009 18:10

It sounds really nice. But then again, I have two boys with alliterative names.

ShowOfHands · 04/03/2009 18:11

David Dimbleby
Hugh Hefner
Maggie May
Jake Gyllenhaal

All the cool people are doing it.

Littlefish · 04/03/2009 18:16

Marilyn Munroe
Malcolm Muggeridge
Peter Piper
Willow (the) Wisp
Fenella Fudge (Radio 2 news reader)
Charlie Chaplin

Actually, I like Leo Lawrence. We had an alliterative name lined up for dd, but decided it sounded too much like a porn star name .

Wolfblass · 04/03/2009 18:19

Love it

I love Fenella Fudge - great voice and always makes me want Vanilla Fudge..mmm

ShowOfHands · 04/03/2009 18:20

Peppa Pig
Olive Oil
Diana Dors
My FIL

Seriously, it's fine...

Divineintervention · 04/03/2009 18:21

I have a MM daughter. I am a KK.

LynetteScavo · 04/03/2009 18:23

AS long as you don't call him Laurence as a first name, he'll be fine.

I like Leo Lawrence.

MrsMattie · 04/03/2009 18:37

Leo is a great name, and Leo Lawrence is fab

bodiddly · 04/03/2009 18:48

my son has an alliterative name and I really like it - I think it suits him.

Squirdle · 04/03/2009 18:57

Both DH and DS2 are CC and it works absolutely fine.

LuLuBai · 04/03/2009 20:45

Leo Lawrence is very cool.

I love alliterative names

Marilyn Monroe
Doris Day
Bridget Bardot

(oh lots of people have already listed them all - but fab!)

LiffeyBag · 04/03/2009 20:58

Gwyneth called her son Moses.

Moses Martin.

Leo Lawrence sounds much better imo.

lalalonglegs · 04/03/2009 21:05

I like alliterative names - sounds sort of jaunty. Rhyming names, now that's something else - I was a school with a Diane Ryan and a Tony Mahoney.

lunamoon2 · 08/03/2009 00:13

My name is alliterative, hasten to add through marriage, and I get loads of complimentary comments about it.
Read once that when stars change their name it is more catchy if they alliterate,
Farrah Fawcett is another example.
Agree with Lala though, do avoid rhyming names.

tigerdriver · 08/03/2009 00:16

Ds likes his mates to call him "GG". I should go for it.

MumGoneCrazy · 08/03/2009 00:19

My DD is a PP

Leo Lawrence does sound very cool like he'll be a big star when he's older

lizmcfizz · 08/03/2009 05:07

Raeray · 08/03/2009 08:51
