Is the name Noah very common where you live?

It is no 50 on the 100 most popular names but whenever i mention the name people seem to always say 'Noah is becoming very common nowadays.'

I don't know any and I live in middle class London mummysville....

Nowhere near the levels of: jack, Alfie, Harry etc.

WowOoo · 04/03/2009 09:47

Don't know any. But, I do know that a mate is considering this if she has a boy. perhaps it will get more popular.

dinkymum · 04/03/2009 10:02

savoycabbage · 04/03/2009 10:09

Two. Both under three. I know far more boys called Alfie, Harry and Joshua though.

Jas · 04/03/2009 10:10

I know three, all under 5

Wheelybug · 04/03/2009 10:14

I know of 1 who is 4 (SW london).

I've been having similar dilemmas over a name for db2 due next week and at the end of the day, if you don't know many then that's all you can go by.

I don't know if, when people say 'it is becoming very common' they just mean it is more known than it was 5 years ago.

Also, I'd say don't discuss names with ANYONE (except maybe the father ) as everyone has to have an opinion !!

mrsgboring · 04/03/2009 10:15

I know two. It feels trendy to me - and it's quite a notable name (would have been desperately unusual when we were kids for example) so people are going to notice it more and think it's more common than it is IYSWIM

I don't know any. Noah is the top of our list if this baby is a boy

Mintyy · 04/03/2009 10:18

I know loads of Noahs. It is absolutely the most popular name for little boys round here (I know more Noahs than Jacks, Olivers, Harrys, Sams etc). Am also in middle class London mummyville as someone else put it!

RachieB · 04/03/2009 10:19

Only know one round here ,he is 3

I LOVE the name

who cares if its popular or "common"
if you like it go for it

MarshaBrady · 04/03/2009 10:20

I know a couple.
Frequently a baby boy announcement will be Noah, Felix, Oscar or Oliver

lljkk · 04/03/2009 10:36

I don't know any (Norfolk).

lljkk · 04/03/2009 10:38

That said, DS3 has a name which is about 50th on the national lists, and I know 2 other children locally with same name. DS2 has a name that's about 250th on national lists -- and I still know 2 other local boys with same name! I reckon some names are like magnets, once you have one you start meeting loads others.

JulesJules · 04/03/2009 10:38

I know 2 - one in dd1's class (6yo) and one in dd2's (4yo)

Flightattendant27 · 04/03/2009 10:39

PestoMonster · 04/03/2009 10:41
