Really ugly name - looks horrible written down and sounds horrible when pronounced.

PottyCock · 03/03/2009 09:52

muireann, isn't it? pronounced 'mirren'

PottyCock · 03/03/2009 09:53

I think it's lovely - where's expat - didn't she call one of her dc this?

SoupDragon · 03/03/2009 11:24

Muireann/Mirren is lovely.

Murren is not. Surpising what difference 1 letter makes.

PestoMonster · 03/03/2009 11:44

I think Zermatt or Courmayeur are way classier....

LilyBolero · 03/03/2009 11:51

Gorionine · 03/03/2009 11:54

There are loads of Murrens here where i live (east scotland) its very poular

It was William Wallaces wifes name

moondog · 03/03/2009 18:57

Fucking hell.
No way.
it sounds like some sort of weird deep sea fish.

BooBooChicken · 03/03/2009 19:01

i love it but only when pronounced in a scottish accent.

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 03/03/2009 19:05

There used to be an animated programme in the 80's called Murrun Buckstansinger (sp). It was about a little potato shaped creature, who lived in a hole under the kitchen cupboard, and he wore clogs.

Blottedcopybook · 06/03/2009 13:41

TimorousWeeBeastie - Actually it was only WW's wife's name in Braveheart, his "wife" was actually called Marion Braidfute but it's not clear whether they actually were married or whether that aspect of the William Wallace story was made up by Harry the Minstrel

I love Murron/Murrin/Mirren/Miren or whatever variations of the name you can find BUT it's become enormously popular up here since Braveheart in all the different variations of the spelling. I always thought I'd name my daughter that, but it's just too popular for me now.
