I've never met a Tarquard or a Bear in real life.

There's a Remco in my dd's class, aged five. Again, a belgian/dutch name I think.

EntersStageLeft, as a fellow pedant I agree with the correction but it's best to try and omit any errors of your own when counselling in such matters.

Xanthe, by the way, is lovely.

I know siblings Phinibus, Merlin, Elfin and Fred. Fabulous names. Also know a Hepzhibah Japonica.

I know a Zee - not short for anything and my sisters best friends brother is called Blue.

I know twins Denim and Lace (poor sods)

I have a nephew called Raven and a neice called Nevada (again poor sods)

knew a Gillan once (boy)-got teased mercilessly because it was so similar to Gillian. teachers also frequently mis-read his name...

AnarchyAunt · 03/03/2009 16:48

In RL I know of Phyzbah for a little girl.

And the traveller couple who called their first DS Boy, and their second DS NewBoy...

Fimbo · 03/03/2009 16:49

I know of a baby called Ziggy.

A teenager called Sapphire

I also know a Gillan but it is Killian

lol!@ Boy and Newboy. Brilliant! Solves so many arguments.

I don't care if Herman is German - it's vile. German Herman

I know a Spike, a Blade, a Bobbi-Peace , a Jalousie and an Elvis. London is full of oddbods, though, so I doubt the teasing is very bad. If the little boy called Moon that I know moved to the Outer Hebrides it might be a problem

On holiday last week, dh came across two boys called Achilles and Apollo.

I used to know 2 sisters in college - they were Sigma and Beta !! We joked if they had a scientist dad.. but it was true !!

bamboostalks · 11/03/2009 12:23

Da'boy is the very silliest name I have come across.
