We decided more or less this morning that bump to be is to be called Harry Joseph...

Just had a call from my mum informing me that her sister, my auntie (my age) has called her baby HARRY!!!

Now i need suggestions as we are at a real loss..

I would like something strong and traditional but not too poular (now i realise Harry is far more popular than i thought, but i honestly don;t know of ay in our area and have had many people 'research' that for me!)

DD is Georgia-Mae and the surname is Wellard so needs to go with those.

Ooh i love Seth.... i bet HE doesn't!!!

Luke reminds me of a dogs name, love Zachary, not keen on Rory, Ross, Tim or Jake, Maxwell will be shortened to Max - another 'doggy' name.

Keep them coming!

I wouldn't use Harry either in your circumstances, mainly because the cousins will be so close in age.

How about:

Dominic Wellard
Quentin Wellard
Rory Wellard
Tobias (Toby) Wellard

strictmumof3 · 27/02/2009 16:19

My little one was very nearly a Harry but called him Isaac despite my family hating the name.

What about:
Elijah
Christian
Miles
Nate

I do like Joel too

strictmumof3 · 27/02/2009 16:38

Michael
Kyle
Sam

Ineedsomesleep · 27/02/2009 17:27

My vote is for Arthur but that is my Dad's name so I may be biased.

I like Elijah too but DH is from the non-biblical names camp.

fruitshootandasausageroll · 27/02/2009 17:36

I would have Henry, as someone has already said, and shorten it to Harry. Or Joseph Henry maybe?

Edward and Arthur are also great tho!

loler · 27/02/2009 17:43

My ds1 was very nearly Harry. Ended up being Patrick Harry. Lots of different shortening available, everyone knows it but not very common.

I love Seth too, discovered it when ds2 was a couple of weeks old and too late to change his name!

Eddas · 27/02/2009 17:57

oh how annoying for you. I remember posting on a thread about names before as my dd is a Georgia and my ds is Harry! We really struggled to agree on any boys names.

For dd I was going to have Oliver.

ds' middle name is Michael

Eddas · 27/02/2009 17:58

that should be on your name thread before

BikeRunSki · 27/02/2009 18:04

No one "owns" a name!!!!!!!!! I have three sets of cousins, all on the same side of the family, similar ages called Jo/e and Chris!

Wolfblass · 27/02/2009 18:33

Bikerunski - very true

We are currently thinking of Samuel

(which i personally love, only slight problem our 11 yr old Dally is called Samson...)

What middle names would go with Samuel

OP posts:

Wolfblass · 27/02/2009 19:54

I would love Sebastian, Thoe or Oscar and i like Finlay.

Dp will have none of it..

OP posts:
Wolfblass · 27/02/2009 19:54

Sorry i mean Theo not Thoe...

OP posts:
ilovepeppapig · 27/02/2009 20:21

I have a samuel James too!

If not samuel what about

Benjamin Wellard

Oliver Wellard

Wolfblass · 27/02/2009 20:30

Love Benjamin but cannot stand Ben or Benji and like Oliver as a middle not first name..

OP posts:
kalo12 · 27/02/2009 20:36

ScottishMummy · 27/02/2009 20:39

no one has 1st dibs or ownership on any name harry was 3rd most popular 2008,so inevitably someone else likey it too

Wolfblass · 27/02/2009 20:45

I know we didn't have dibs or ownership - pmsl!

Maybe it's done me a favour!?

OP posts:
ScottishMummy · 27/02/2009 20:48

names are a leap of faith, you chose hoping it doesn't become associated with bampots/schlebs

thats all

AccidentalMum · 27/02/2009 20:52

Every third child where I live is called Harry....I think it is both a sign and a gift

bytheLiffey · 27/02/2009 21:24

Daniel

Wolfblass · 28/02/2009 14:26

Okay so dp's favourite is back in the game.

First time around when pg with DD 5 years ago i absolutley vetoed it.

The said name is Gabriel. All my family and friends HATE it, and i think their opinions rubbed off on me slightly (i was only 21). I know quite like it and think Gabe is brilliant for short.

Other names on the table that we both agree on at the moment are

Harvey or Samuel so:

Harvey Gabriel
Gabriel Harvey

or Samuel Harvey
or Harvey Samuel
