Middle names to go with Nathaniel

DS has a similar length and style name with James as his middle name. Our surname is two syllables beginning with 'D'. James is a family name, would love to use one of my grandad's names but they are Ebert Walter Metford so the other possibilities going down that route are:

Alfred (would probably have been DS's name but our best friends beat us to it by 3 mths)
Albert
Charles
Louis (after DH's gran Louisa)

Other more distant names from our family tree are:

Edwin
Morgan
Reuben
Stanley

Really hoping we are having another boy as we never managed to agree on a girl's name for DS so this is the easy bit

Damn ... when I read the title I was goung to suggest James LOL, how about David or Mark, or Thomas

seeker · 26/02/2009 05:58

That's funny - I though James at once too!

John's a good middle name!

lauren61 · 26/02/2009 11:47

lol i thought james straight away too!

Cies · 26/02/2009 11:49

Me too!

Cies · 26/02/2009 11:50

OK, now with your suggestions I think Nathaniel Charles goes well.

orangehead · 26/02/2009 11:52

I thought James too

skyblu · 26/02/2009 12:03

I immediately thought Nathaniel John

From your list, I like,

Nathaniel Charles
Nathaniel Louis

I think the middle name needs to be 1 syllable to get the 'flow' without it being too much of a mouthful.

BlueChampagne · 26/02/2009 13:24

Louis or Morgan would be my vote.

Iklboo · 26/02/2009 13:26

I thought James too! Are we all psychically connected through MN?

lastboxoftampons · 26/02/2009 15:37

I like Charles - keep it simple!

MsBrandybuck · 26/02/2009 16:20

LOL at all the James suggestions

Charles is the obvious choice really as it is DH's second name as well as his Dad's and Grandad's. My only reservation is that DH had nothing to do with his Dad for the last 20 years of his life and that our children have already got his surname.

Thanks for the other suggestions too. John would be good but for it being my ex-H's name.
