Are people likely to shorten it to Jess or Jessi though? Hate both of those names but like Jessica.

I like Talia both ways. I don't understand why they're said different ways but they're the same spelling?

i have never heard it pronounced tayar only as

th - a - lia (soft sound)

or t - a - lia (hard T sound)

Being biased as I have a Talia (see other thread) would have to go for Talia, pronounced Tah-Lee-Ah.

To be Thalia would be pronounced Tha-l-ia Th as in think.

I've only heard of it pronounced Taa-lia too.

Oh Good sweetkitty, you have one! Does she like her name? The baby name website I looked on had it pronounced as I put in the OP, but it makes more sense to be pronounced how you do it.

My Talia is 3 and I think it's a unique name for a unique child, she is very fiery and strong willed.

Some people do have problems with pronouncing it but I think they would have trouble with most names names IYSWIN, my Dad espeically winds me up, he still calls her Tal-yar which I hate, I am sure it won't be long until she corrects him.

Talia is a fab name go for it.

From your list I prefer Lydia, Talia and Anne (although prefer Anna).

I do find Jessica a little dated...nothing wrong with it, just doesn't sound as elegant as Lydia, Talia or Anna imo.

Don't like Hayley at all.
